Route 112 is a numbered state highway running in the U.S. state of Rhode Island. It connects U.S. Route 1 (US 1) in the town center of Charlestown and Route 138 in the town of Richmond. Route description Route 112 begins as South County Trail at US 1 in the center of Charlestown. It heads north overlapped with Route 2 for several miles up to the intersection with Carolina Back Road. The two routes separate here with Route 2 continuing northeast on South County Trail and Route 112 heading northwest on Carolina Back Road. Route 112 soon crosses into the village of Carolina within the town of Richmond. The road name changes to Main Street as the route passes through the village center. In Carolina, Route 112 has a junction with Route 91, which leads to the village of Alton. Charlestown is a town in Washington County, Rhode Island, United States. The population was 7,997 at the 2020 census. History Charlestown is named after King Charles II, and was incorporated in 1738. The area was formerly part of the town of Westerly. It was in turn divided and the part north of the Pawcatuck River became the town of Richmond in 1747. Route 138 is a numbered State Highway running in Rhode Island. It is the longest state numbered route in Rhode Island, and the second longest highway after US 1. Route 138 begins in Exeter at the Connecticut state line in the west and runs to the Massachusetts state line in Tiverton in the east, and is the only state-numbered route to completely cross Rhode Island. Route 138 also keeps the same route number on the other side of both state lines. Route 138 is a major thoroughfare in southern Rhode Island. Charlestown is a census-designated place (CDP) in Washington County, Rhode Island, United States, comprising the main village in the town of Charlestown and additional land extending to the east into the town of South Kingstown. It was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census. Charlestown is in southern Washington County, on the north side of Ninigret Pond, a tidal lagoon connected to Block Island Sound. The community is in the southeast part of the town of Charlestown and the southwest part of the town of South Kingstown. Alton is a small village of about 250 residents within the town of Richmond, Rhode Island. It is located about one hour south of Providence, the state's capital. The village is primarily residential, with no retail stores. Alton is located at a crossing of the Wood River and is 5 miles from the Pawcatuck River. Meadow Brook Golf Club
The Meadow Brook Club is a private golf club in Jericho, New York, Long Island, New York, United States. From 1894 to 1954 it was part of a hunting club, which soon evolved into a major polo club. After the original grounds were expropriated for urban development, it moved to its present location and became primarily a golf club. The Meadowbrook Polo Club is now a separate entity. Origins The club originated as the Meadow Brook Hunt Club, established in 1881 in Westbury, New York and home of the Meadow Brook Hounds.
