RC Lokomotiv Moscow
RC Lokomotiv Moscow is a professional Russian rugby football club based in Moscow, which from 2010 will field teams in both rugby league and rugby union. The club is one of the oldest in Russia. Originally a club for those who worked on the railways, they participated in the first USSR rugby union championship in 1937. Lokomotiv were Soviet Championship winners in 1983. During the existence of the USSR, RC Lokomotiv Moscow club was a part of the Lokomotiv Voluntary Sports Society. In 1991, following York City Knights and Fulham's tour to the country, the club switched from rugby union to rugby league, owing mostly to rugby union's amateur status at the time, and the desire by players to be paid. Lokomotiv have gone on to dominate Russian rugby league. They have won seven Championships, including league and cup doubles in 2002–2005. Rugby Union At The Summer Olympics
Rugby union has been a men's medal sport at the modern Summer Olympic Games, being played at four of the first seven competitions. The sport debuted at the 1900 Paris games where the gold medal was won by the host nation. It was subsequently featured at the London games in 1908, the Antwerp games in 1920 and the Paris games in 1924. Shortly after the 1924 games, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) dropped rugby union as an Olympic sport. Since then there have been numerous attempts to bring the sport back to the Olympic programme. In October 2009 the IOC voted at its session in Copenhagen to include the sevens version of the sport in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. Andrey Ivanovich Dumalkin (born 3 November 1972) is a Russian former rugby league footballer who played as a for RC Lokomotiv Moscow in the Championship of Russia competition. He is the current coach of the Russia national beach rugby team and coach of SSHOR No. 111, He previously coached RC Zelenograd and is a Master of Sports of Russia. Career Dumalkin played in the second row in rugby league. Alexandr Lysenkov (Александр Лысенков ) (born in Moscow, circa 1973) is a Russian rugby league footballer who plays as a for RC Lokomotiv Moscow in the Championship of Russia competition. Career As a child, he played football at the sports school of the Dynamo Moscow. He took up rugby under the guidance of Shamil Akbulatov. In his youth he was a bully, participated in numerous fights and sometimes stole cars, selling them. He made his debut in the first team of Lokomotiv in 1988 at the age of 15 as a rugby union player in a match against Aviator Kyiv, later took up rugby league. He was included in the Russian national side for the 2000 World Cup and has been a regular player in the national set up ever since. He spent one match in the tournament.
