RBB Fernsehen
RBB Fernsehen (stylized as rbb fernsehen) is a German free-to-air television channel owned and operated by Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (RBB) and serving Berlin and Brandenburg. It is one of the seven regional "third programmes" that are offered within the federal ARD network. History On 1 May 2003, ORB-Fernsehen was renamed to ''RBB Brandenburg'' and SFB1 to ''RBB Berlin''. However, until 28 February 2004, two different programs continued to be broadcast. On 10 November 2003, the joint broadcasts ''rbb um 6'' and ''zibb – zuhause in Berlin und Brandenburg'' started. On February 29, 2004, the merger of both stations to ''rbb Fernsehen'' took place. In the summer of 2004, the program ''Im Palais'' went on the air and from 23 September 2004, Kurt Krömer started his own show. 720p (1280×720 px; also called HD ready, standard HD or just HD) is a progressive HDTV signal format with 720 horizontal lines/1280 columns and an aspect ratio (AR) of 16:9, normally known as widescreen HDTV (1.78:1). All major HDTV broadcasting standards (such as SMPTE 292M) include a 720p format, which has a resolution of 1280×720; however, there are other formats, including HDV Playback and AVCHD for camcorders, that use 720p images with the standard HDTV resolution. The frame rate is standards-dependent, and for conventional broadcasting appears in 50 progressive frames per second in former PAL/SECAM countries (Europe, Australia, others), and 59.94 frames per second in former NTSC countries (North America, Japan, Brazil, others). rbb24 Brandenburg aktuell (until 27 March 2022 ''Brandenburg aktuell'') is the television magazine of Rundfunk Berlin-Brandenburg (rbb) for the state of Brandenburg. The programme is broadcast daily on rbb Fernsehen at 7:30 p.m., while the viewers in Berlin receive the Abendschau. The magazine informs about political and cultural life in Brandenburg and provides background information on special events. Also the sport in Brandenburg as well as homeland stories from Brandenburg are topics of the show. In the early years, national and international reports were shown in ''Brandenburg aktuell'', but these were abolished in 2000 when ORB Fernsehen began simulcasting the main 8:00pm edition of Tagesschau from Das Erste. Deutscher Fernsehfunk (DFF; German for "German Television Broadcasting") was the state television broadcaster in the German Democratic Republic (GDR or East Germany) from 1952 to 1991. DFF produced free-to-air terrestrial television programming approved by the ruling Socialist Unity Party of Germany (SED) and broadcast to audiences in East Germany and parts of West Germany. DFF served as the main televised propaganda outlet of the SED with censored political and non-political programmes featuring bias towards the Marxist–Leninist ideology of the Eastern Bloc. Knut (polar Bear)
Knut (; 5 December 2006 – 19 March 2011) was an orphaned polar bear born in Captivity (animal), captivity at the Berlin Zoological Garden. Rejected by his mother at birth, he was raised by zookeepers. He was the first polar bear cub to survive past infancy at the Berlin Zoo in more than 30 years. At one time the subject of international controversy, he became a tourist attraction and commercial success. After the German tabloid newspaper ''Bild-Zeitung, Bild'' ran a quote from an animal rights Activism, activist that decried keeping the cub in captivity, fans worldwide rallied in support of his being hand-raised by humans.
