RAF Ayr
RAF Heathfield, sometimes known as RAF Ayr/Heathfield due to its proximity to Glasgow Prestwick Airport, which was also used by military flights, is a former Royal Air Force station. Like many other wartime airfields, its runways were of the Class A airfield, triangular layout. An ensign is the national flag flown on a vessel to indicate nationality. The ensign is the largest flag, generally flown at the stern (rear) of the ship while in port. 438 "City of Montreal" Tactical Helicopter Squadron (French: ) is a unit of the Royal Canadian Air Force. The squadron operates the CH-146 Griffon tactical helicopter from the Hartland de Montarville Molson Hangar of CFB St. Hubert in Quebec, Canada. Its tasks include armed and unarmed tactical utility transport, training aircrew personnel in basic and advanced aviation tactics, technical training of groundcrew personnel and flight engineers and the periodic maintenance of CH-146 fleet aircraft. 812 Naval Air Squadron was a Naval Air Squadron of the British Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm. It was active between 1933 and 1956, and saw service in both World War II and the Korean War. Service history First formation The squadron was first formed on 3 April 1933 aboard the aircraft carrier , then part of the Mediterranean Fleet, by amalgamating No 461 and 462 (Fleet Torpedo) Flights. Originally equipped with the Blackburn Ripon, these were replaced with the Blackburn Baffin in January 1934, with the squadron being the first to be fully equipped with this improved derivative of the Ripon. 808 Naval Air Squadron is a ship-based helicopter squadron of the Royal Australian Navy. The squadron was originally part of the British Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm; it was formed in July 1940 as a fleet fighter squadron. 730 Naval Air Squadron (730 NAS) was a List of Fleet Air Arm aircraft squadrons, Naval Air Squadron of the Royal Navy's Fleet Air Arm. It was active between 1944 and 1945 as a communications squadron. History of 730 NAS Communications Squadron (1944 - 1945) 730 Naval Air Squadron was formed on 17 April 1944 at Glasgow Airport, RNAS Abbotsinch (HMS Sanderling) in Scotland, where the squadron operated Stinson Reliant and Beechcraft Model 18, Beech Expediter II aircraft. Later that year in August, Beechcraft Model 17 Staggerwing, Beech Traveller was acquired and this was followed by Fairey Firefly in the September.
