R566 Road (South Africa)
The R566 is a Regional Route in South Africa that connects Brits with Pretoria North via Ga-Rankuwa and Rosslyn. It is an alternative route to the N4 Highway for travel between Brits and Pretoria North. Route Its western terminus is a junction with the R104 route about 5.5 kilometres west of The Elephant Sanctuary Hartbeespoort Dam in the Madibeng Local Municipality of the North West Province. It begins by heading north-east for 7 kilometres, flying over the N4 Highway (Platinum Highway), to reach a junction with the R512 route about 5 kilometres south of the Brits town centre, where it turns to the east. It proceeds east-north-east for 3.6 kilometres, crossing the Crocodile River, to reach a junction with the R511 route. From the R511 junction near Brits, the R566 continues eastwards. Wonderboom Airport
Wonderboom Airport is located in Pretoria North, South Africa. History The airport was opened in 1937, being built on the farm Wonderboom approximately 15 km north of Pretoria. Originally a civilian airstrip for light aircraft, it was used for military training purposes during the Second World War before returning to civilian control in 1945. The airport remains a light aircraft facility to this day. In 1965, the airport was extensively extended, with a new terminal building and hangars being constructed as well as the runways being extended. This led to Wonderboom Airport being able to receive its first Boeing 737 in 1982. In 1993, runway 11/29 was again upgraded to its present length of 1,828 m. Airport management passed to the Greater Pretoria Metropolitan Council in December 1994. Towards the end of 2000, ownership passed to Pretoria. R101 (South Africa)
The R101 is a Regional Route in South Africa that is the designation for some of the old sections of roads that were previously the N1, prior to upgrading. It only has 2 sections, from Bellville to Worcester and from Johannesburg to Polokwane. Western Cape The R101 starts in Bellville at the R102 running to the east parallel to the newer N1 freeway and is named 'Old Paarl Road'. It then goes through Brackenfell before entering Kraaifontein as 'Voortrekker Road'. At the intersection with Maroela Road in Kraaifontein East it is renamed 'Old Paarl Road' before entering the Cape Winelands. In the Cape Winelands it goes through Klapmuts and then enters Paarl. South of Paarl, the R101 is joined by the R45 to be co-signed for 6 kilometres northwards, crossing the N1 freeway, before separating from the R45 and turning right in Paarl Central Business District (CBD). The M1 road is a short metropolitan route in the City of Tshwane in Gauteng, South Africa. It connects Pretoria West and the Pretoria CBD with Pretoria North via Mayville. It is an alternative route to the R101 Route for travel between Pretoria CBD and Pretoria North. Route The M1 route begins at a junction with the M2 route (Nana Sita Street; Charlotte Maxeke Street) and the western terminus of the M6 route (Visagie Street). It heads northwards as Es'kia Mphahlele Drive (formerly DF Malan Drive), separating Pretoria West in the west from Pretoria CBD in the east and meeting the R104 Route (WF Nkomo Street) and the M22 route at the next junction. Here, the M22 route stops co-signing with the R104 eastwards on WF Nkomo Street and begins co-signing with the M1 northwards on Es'kia Mphahlele Drive. The Pretoria Ring Road, also known as the Pretoria Bypass, is a collection of two bypasses that together form a partial ring road around the city of Pretoria, South Africa. It consists of a section of the N1 Highway (known as the Eastern Bypass) as well as a section of the N4 Highway (known as the Northern Bypass). The R80 is a provincial route in the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality in Gauteng, South Africa that connects the Pretoria CBD with Mabopane and Soshanguve. It is a dual carriageway freeway, with 2 or 3 lanes in each direction at different points and is named the ''Mabopane Highway''. Akasia
Akasia is a complex of suburbs north of Pretoria, part of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality. Formerly an independent municipality, the area surrounding Akasia is largely semi-rural and Akasia itself is built on former agricultural holdings.
