R403 Road (Ireland)
The R403 road is a regional road in Ireland, linking the N4 at Lucan in County Dublin to Carbury in County Kildare. It starts, heading west, at a roundabout on the ''Leixlip Road'' ( R148) and crosses the M4 motorway past Weston Airport and into County Kildare. It follows the ''Dublin Road'' to Celbridge where it crosses the River Liffey with the R405, then heads southwest along the ''Clane Road'' to Clane. A stretch of ruler-straight road takes it west via Prosperous to Allenwood. Its final stretch westwards is through the Bog of Allen via Derrinturn to Carbury, where it terminates at the R402 The route is long. Prosperous () is a town in north County Kildare, Ireland. It is within the townland of Curryhills, at the junction of the R403 and R408 regional roads, about from Dublin. Founded in the late 18th century, its 2016 population was 2,333, making it the 14th largest town in County Kildare. History The English name of Prosperous was given when the village was founded in the late 18th century by Sir Robert Brooke. The village takes its Irish name from the townland lying to the east, ''Corrchoill'' or ''an Chorrchoill'' (meaning "the smooth forest"), anglicised variously as Corr ill Curr ill and Curryhills. An alternative meaning is "The wood of the small round hill" 4 and this makes sense topographically as there is a low hill immediately to the east of the village. Rathcoffey () is a village in County Kildare, Ireland, around 30 km west of Dublin city centre. It had a population of 271 as of 2016 census. The village church, Rathcoffey Church, is part of the Clane & Rathcoffey Parish, and was built in 1710. Rathcoffey National School, a co-educational Catholic primary school, is the only educational institution in the village. R148 Road (Ireland)
The R148 road is one of Ireland's regional roads which was classified following the opening of a by-passed national primary road. The section of the old N4 which has been by-passed by the M4 motorway was reclassified R148. The R148 runs from Dublin to Kinnegad in County Westmeath. The road is long. It is generally of a very high standard for a regional road, with wide lanes, hard shoulders, and turning bays. It is still heavily used by traffic avoiding the tolled M4 between Kilcock and Kinnegad. The road was previously categorised as a National Primary route until the opening of the M4 motorway and therefore carried a speed limit of 100 km/h. The speed limit has now been reduced to 80 km/h. The fact that speed limits have reduced, even though traffic is lighter than before, has led some to claim that the limit reduction is simply a cynical attempt to force motorists to use the tolled M4. Maynooth (; ga, Maigh Nuad) is a university town in north County Kildare, Ireland.
