R360 (South Africa)
The R360 is a Regional Route in the Northern Cape of South Africa that connects Upington with the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park (part of the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park) and the Namibian border. It passes through Askham and Andriesvale. Route Its southern origin is a junction with the N10 at Upington, just west of the Upington Airport. From there, it heads north-west for 150 kilometres until it meets the R31 in the town of Askham. The two roads join and are co-signed for about 13 kilometres westwards, following the Kuruman River, up to the village of Andriesvale. At Andriesvale, they cross the Molopo River (adjacent to its confluence with the Kuruman River) before splitting at a junction, where the R31 remains on the westerly road and the R360 becomes the road northwards. The N10 is a national route (South Africa), national route in South Africa connecting Gqeberha on the Eastern Cape coast with the Namibian border at Nakop, via Cradock, Eastern Cape, Cradock, De Aar and Upington. Nossob River
The Nossob (also Nosob or Nossop) River (''ǂnuse ǃab'', Khoikhoi for black river) is a dry river bed in eastern Namibia and the Kalahari region of South Africa and Botswana. It covers a distance of 740 km and last flooded in 1989. The river also lends its name to Nossob camp in the Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park. Course The Nossob has its origin in two main tributaries, the Swart-Nossob and Wit-Nossob, meaning black and white respectively. Both tributaries have their origins in the eastern slopes of the Otjihavera mountain range, east of Windhoek. Their sources are at 1,800 m and over 2,000 m above sea level respectively. Molopo River
The Molopo River ( af, Moloporivier) is one of the main rivers in Southern Africa. It has a length of approximately 960 kilometres and a catchment area of 367,201 km2 with Botswana, Namibia and South Africa sharing roughly about a third of the basin each. Course Its source is in the Molopo Oog ( Eye of Molopo in Afrikaans), and the river generally flows first to the west, and then to the southwest from its source. The R31 is a provincial route in the Northern Cape of South Africa that connects Kimberley with the Namibian border at Rietfontein via Kuruman and Hotazel. It is co-signed with the R360 between Askham and Andriesvale. Some sections of this road are gravel road. Upington Airport
Upington Airport is an airport located in Upington, Northern Cape, South Africa. At , runway 17/35 is one of the longest runways in the world. The high elevation of the airport, extremely high summer temperatures and the fact that it was designed for the Boeing 747 necessitated the extreme length of the main runway. Upington, South Africa
Upington ( Nama: //Khara hais) is a town founded in 1873 and located in the Northern Cape province of South Africa, on the banks of the Orange River. The town was originally called Olijvenhoutsdrift ('Olive wood drift'), due to the abundance of olive wood trees in the area, but later renamed after Sir Thomas Upington, Attorney-General and then Prime Minister of the Cape. It originated as a mission station established in 1871 and run by Reverend Christiaan Schröder. The mission station now houses the Kalahari Orange Museum.
