Róisín Garvey
Róisín Garvey (born 5 July 1973) is an Irish Green Party (Ireland), Green Party politician who has served as a Seanad Éireann, Senator since June 2020, after being Nominated members of Seanad Éireann, nominated by the Taoiseach. Early life Garvey grew up in Inagh and attended Coláiste Muire, Ennis and University of Galway, NUI Galway. Her father, Flan Garvey, was a Fianna Fáil member of Clare County Council between 1985 and 2009. Garvey formerly worked for An Taisce. Political career She previously served as a member of Clare County Council from 2019 to 2020. Garvey was an unsuccessful Green Party candidate in the 2020 Irish general election, 2020 general election for the Clare (Dáil constituency), Clare constituency. Seanad Éireann
Seanad Éireann (, ; "Senate of Ireland") is the upper house of the Oireachtas (the Irish legislature), which also comprises the President of Ireland and Dáil Éireann (the lower house). It is commonly called the Seanad or Senate and its members senators (''seanadóirí'' in Irish, singular: ''seanadóir''). Unlike Dáil Éireann, it is not directly elected but consists of a mixture of members chosen by various methods. Members Of The 26th Seanad
There are 60 members of the 26th Seanad Éireann, the upper house of the Oireachtas (Irish parliament). Of these, 49 2020 Seanad election, were elected on a restricted franchise, polls closing on 30–31 March 2020; subsequently the remaining 11 members were nominated by the Taoiseach, Micheál Martin, on 27 June 2020. Hazel Chu (born 3 November 1980) is an Irish Green Party politician who has been a member of Dublin City Council since May 2019. She was elected Cathaoirleach (Chairperson) of the Irish Green Party in December 2019, and was succeeded by Senator Pauline O'Reilly in December 2021. Nominated Members Of Seanad Éireann
The composition of Seanad Éireann, one of the two houses of the Oireachtas (parliament) of Ireland, is set out in Article 18 of the Constitution of Ireland. This provides for 60 Senators, of whom 11 are nominated by the Taoiseach who is appointed next after the election to general election to Dáil Éireann (Ireland's house of representatives).
