Ryan Grant (rugby Union)
Ryan Grant (born 8 October 1985) is a rugby union coach; the co-owner of a gin business; and a former Scotland international rugby union player. He currently is Head Coach of Glasgow Academicals. Educated at the Alice Smith School in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He is an ex-soldier; he served in the Royal Corps of Signals, British Army as an Area System Operator from 2002 to 2005. Rugby Union career Amateur career Grant played rugby for the Army before making the grade at Professional level. In 2016, Grant turned out for Currie in the Scottish Premiership. In the 2017–18 season he was playing his rugby with Ayr. Kirkcaldy, Fife
Kirkcaldy ( ; sco, Kirkcaldy; gd, Cair Chaladain) is a town and former royal burgh in Fife, on the east coast of Scotland. It is about north of Edinburgh and south-southwest of Dundee. The town had a recorded population of 49,460 in 2011, making it Fife's second-largest settlement and the 12th most populous settlement in Scotland. Kirkcaldy has long been nicknamed the Lang Toun (; Scots for "long town") in reference to the early town's main street, as indicated on maps from the 16th and 17th centuries. The street would finally reach a length of nearly , connecting the burgh to the neighbouring settlements of Linktown, Pathhead, Sinclairtown and Gallatown, which became part of the town in 1876. Ruaridh Jackson
Ruaridh James Howard Jackson (born 12 February 1988) is a former Scotland international rugby union player. He previously played for Glasgow Warriors in the Pro14. Jackson started his career playing at fly-half, but soon transitioned to playing at full-back, where he usually remained on his return to Glasgow Warriors in 2017. Gethin Jenkins
Gethin Jenkins (born 17 November 1980) is a Welsh former rugby union player. He won 129 international caps for Wales and five for the British & Irish Lions. Jenkins was the record cap holder for Wales until he was overtaken by Alun Wyn Jones on 29 September 2019. He is the sixth most-capped player in rugby union history and the most capped front row forward. He is one of a small group of Welsh players to have won three Grand Slams including Gerald Davies, Gareth Edwards, JPR Williams, Ryan Jones, Adam Jones and Alun Wyn Jones. 2012 Scotland Rugby Union Tour Of Oceania
In June 2012, the Scotland national rugby union team, Scotland rugby union team made a tour of Australia national rugby union team, Australia, Fiji national rugby union team, Fiji and Samoa national rugby union team, Samoa, playing one test match against each. The tour began with Scotland's second consecutive win over Australia, meaning they retained the Hopetoun Cup. (They had beaten Australia 9–8 at Murrayfield Stadium, Murrayfield in 2009.) Scotland then travelled to Fiji, becoming the first "Tier 1" nation to play a test in a Pacific Islands, Pacific Island nation since Italy national rugby union team, Italy visited Fiji in 2006. 1872 Cup
The 1872 Cup – also known as the 1872 Challenge Cup – is a men's rugby union tournament contested every year between the two Scottish professional clubs, Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby. Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby use selected United Rugby Championship league matches against one another to decide the Cup winners. The highest aggregate score in the home and away ties decides the 1872 Champions. Not only is the Glasgow – Edinburgh fixture the oldest inter-district rugby match in the world, but the derby is classed as one of the biggest in world rugby. The Greenyards
The Greenyards is a sports ground in Melrose, Scottish Borders. It has been the home of Melrose RFC for rugby union matches and the annual Melrose Sevens tournament. The first ever rugby 7s matches were played at the ground in 1883. The professional side Southern Knights use it for home matches in the Super 6 competition. In 2019 the grass pitches were replaced with an artificial surface, with floodlights around the ground. The ground has a capacity of 15,000. History The press box dates from the 1930s. The main stand on the east side of the playing area has 1174 seats. More than 10,000 people were expected at the 2012 Melrose Sevens tournament. Newcastle Falcons is a rugby union team that play in Premiership Rugby, England's highest division of rugby union. The club was established in 1877 as the Gosforth Football Club. Around 1882 the club merged with the Northumberland Football Club and briefly assumed their name until 1887. In 1990, the name was changed to Newcastle Gosforth and the club began to play at Kingston Park stadium in Kingston Park, Newcastle upon Tyne. Scottish Premiership Division One
The Scottish Premiership is the highest level club division in Scotland's national rugby union league divisions, and therefore part of the Scottish League Championship. It contains many of the country's highest profile clubs. However it is not the highest level of rugby union in Scotland, as Edinburgh Rugby and Glasgow Warriors play against Irish, Welsh and Italian teams in the Pro14.
