Ruth McColl
Ruth Stephanie McColl (born 1950) is a judge of the Court of Appeal of the Supreme Court of New South Wales, the highest court in the State of New South Wales, Australia, which forms part of the Australian court hierarchy. Education McColl studied at Willoughby Girls' High School. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws from the University of Sydney in 1975.Who's Who in Australia Career McColl worked as a solicitor in the NSW Crown Solicitor's Office from 1976–80. In 1980, McColl was admitted to the NSW Bar. She was appointed Senior Counsel in 1994. The title of Senior Counsel or State Counsel (post-nominal letters: SC) is given to a senior lawyer in some countries that were formerly part of the British Empire. "Senior Counsel" is used in current or former Commonwealth countries or jurisdictions that have chosen to change the title "King's Counsel" to a name without monarchical connotations, usually related to the British monarch that is no longer head of state, such that reference to the King is no longer appropriate.
