Rustlers (1919 Film)
''Rustlers'' or ''The Rustlers'' is a 1919 American short silent Western film produced by John Ford and directed by Reginald Barker under the working title of ''Even Money''. The film was shot between February 28 and March 8, 1919 for April release that same year. Ford himself chose to bring Pete Morrison into this project (and others), and during the time of the film's shooting, he and Baker co-chaired a committee created by William Beaudine, then-president of The Motion Pictures Director's Association. Plot Ben Clayburn (Pete Morrison) uses the guise of a sheep rancher when sent to the town of Point Rock to track down the leader of a band of rustlers. He is accused himself of being one if the rustlers and Postmistress Nell Wyndham ( Helen Gibson) saves him from an angry lynch mob. Shoulder Arms
''Shoulder Arms'' is Charlie Chaplin's second film for First National Pictures. Released in 1918, it is a silent comedy film set in France during World War I, the first of three films he made on the subject of war. It co-starred Edna Purviance and Sydney Chaplin, Chaplin's elder brother. In this film, Chaplin is never in his Little Tramp outfit. Plot Some time during World War I, Doughboy (Charlie Chaplin) begins his service in the war amongst "the awkward squad" a group of American soldiers. He is bow-legged, unbalanced, and uncoordinated during bootcamp in contrast to the other soldiers who all have excellent coordination. He does move on to the front in France though, amongst the shells and trenches, and bunks amongst comrades (Sydney Chaplin). Doughboy is charged with guard duty and begins daydreaming of bars, cities, and home before being dismissed back to his bunk. William Beaudine
William Washington Beaudine (January 15, 1892 – March 18, 1970) was an American film actor and director. He was one of Hollywood's most prolific directors, turning out films in remarkable numbers and in a wide variety of genres. Life and career Born in New York City, Beaudine began his career as an actor in 1909 with American Mutoscope and Biograph Company. He married Marguerite Fleischer in 1914 and they stayed married until his death. Her sister was the mother of actor Bobby Anderson (actor and production associate), Bobby Anderson. Beaudine's brother Harold Beaudine was a director of short action-filled comedy films. In 1915 he was hired as an actor and director by the Kalem Company. He was an assistant to director D.W.
