Russia competed at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics from August 27 to September 4 in Daegu, South Korea. Team selection The All-Russia Athletic Federation has announced a squad of 83 athletes. The Russian Athletics Federation (RAF), previously named the All-Russia Athletic Federation (ARAF; russian: Всероссийская федерация лёгкой атлетики, ВФЛА), is the governing body for the sport of athletics in Russia. Tatyana Viktorovna Lysenko (russian: Татьяна Викторовна Лысенко, born 9 October 1983 in Bataysk) is a Russian hammer thrower. Her career has been blighted by repeated doping infractions. The Women's high jump event at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics was held at the Daegu Stadium on September 1 and 3. Russia's Anna Chicherova entered the competition as the favourite with a world leading jump of 2.07 m. Anna Vladimirovna Chicherova (russian: Анна Владимировна Чичерова; born 22 July 1982) is a Russian high jumper. She was the gold medalist at the 2012 London Olympics and the 2011 World Championships in Athletics and originally was awarded a bronze medal in the event at the 2008 Summer Olympics. She was also runner-up at the World Championships in 2007 and 2013, as well as the bronze medalist in 2015. In May 2016, it was reported that a retest of samples from the 2008 Games had found 31 positive findings for performance-enhancing drugs. The Men's 50 kilometres race walk event at the 2011 World Championships in Athletics was held on September 3 on a loop course starting and finishing at Gukchae – bosang Memorial Park in the center of Daegu. Yohann Diniz took the early lead, challenged by Nathan Deakes until Diniz was disqualified. Deakes continued to lead by as much as 30 seconds over Sergey Bakulin but began to falter with hamstring problems. First he was passed by Bakulin before dropping out. Sergey Vasilyevich Bakulin (russian: Серге́й Васильевич Бакулин; born 13 November 1986 in Insar, Mordvin ASSR) is a male race walker from Russia. Biography He was originally the 2011 World Champion in the 50 kilometres race walk before losing his medal for doping infringements. Tatyana Pavlovna Firova (russian: Татьяна Павловна Фирова; born October 10, 1982) is a Russian former sprint athlete. She was awarded the silver medal in the 4 × 400 m relay at the 2004 Summer Olympics. In 2016, it was announced that a reanalysis of samples from the 2008 Summer Olympics resulted in a doping violation by Firova.
