ScorniceÈ™ti () is a town in Olt County, Romania, with a population of 11,766. The town administers 13 villages (BălÈ›aÈ›i, Bircii, ChiÈ›easca, ConstantineÈ™ti, Jitaru, Mărgineni-Slobozia, MihăileÈ™ti-PopeÈ™ti, MogoÈ™eÈ™ti, Negreni, Piscani, Rusciori, Șuica and TeiuÈ™) and has a total area of 170 km² (65 sq. mi.), being the locality with the largest area in the county of Olt, surpassing even its capital Slatina. ScorniceÈ™ti is situated in the historical region of Muntenia. It officially became a town in 1989, as a result of the Romanian rural systematization program. History ScorniceÈ™ti was the birthplace of communist leader Nicolae CeauÈ™escu, who lived there until the age of 11, when he left for Bucharest to become a shoemaker. During his dictatorship, CeauÈ™escu wanted to make ScorniceÈ™ti a "model town" to house the newly created " Socialist Man". Șura Mică
Șura Mică (german: Kleinscheuern; hu, Kiscsűr) is a commune in the central part of Sibiu County, Transylvania, Romania. The commune is located immediately to the north of the city of Sibiu. It is composed of two villages, Rusciori (''Reußdörfchen''; ''Oroszcsűr'') and Șura Mică. Population *1525: a school *1786: 613 people *1910: 1412 people *1990: 2550 people History The village was documented in 1323 as "Parvum Horreum" = Kleine Scheuer. A medieval fortified church in Șura Mică was built in the 13th century and considerably rebuilt around 1500. Only fragments of the surrounding wall survive.
