Run (2014 Film)
''Run'' is a 2014 French-Ivorian drama film directed by Philippe Lacôte. It was screened in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. The fictionalized account of the 2011 post-election upheaval in the Ivory Coast that killed 3000 people was first film from that country selected for Cannes. The film was also selected as the Ivorian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awards but it was not nominated. It received 12 nominations at the 11th Africa Movie Academy Awards but did not win any award. Philippe Lacôte is a film director from Côte d'Ivoire. He is most noted for his 2014 film ''Run (2014 film), Run'', which was a Lumières Award nominee for Lumières Award for Best French-Language Film, Best French-Language Film at the 20th Lumières Awards, and his 2020 film ''Night of the Kings (La Nuit des rois)'', which was a winner of the Toronto International Film Festival Amplify Voices Award, Amplify Voices Award at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival. This is a list of submissions to the 88th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) has invited the film industries of various countries to submit their best film for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film every year since the award was created in 1956. The award is presented annually by the Academy to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The Foreign Language Film Award Committee oversees the process and reviews all the submitted films. Nine shortlisted contenders were revealed a week before the announcement of the Oscar nominations. The submitted motion pictures must be first released theatrically in their respective countries between 1 October 2014, and 30 September 2015. 11th Africa Movie Academy Awards
The 2015 Africa Movie Academy Awards ceremony honouring films of 2014 was scheduled to take place in June 2015 but held on 26 September 2015. The gala night was moved to June as opposed to the regular March–May season in honour of Michael Anyiam-Osigwe, a longtime entertainment patron and brother to the founder and former C.E.O. of the award ceremony, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe. This years' award will be the first in the post-Osigwe's era of the ceremony, after her formal resignation in March.
