Ruggles Island ( es, Isla Calista) is a small island, off East Falkland in the Falkland Islands The Falkland Islands (; es, Islas Malvinas, link=no ) is an archipelago in the South Atlantic Ocean on the Patagonian Shelf. The principal islands are about east of South America's southern Patagonian coast and about from Cape Dubouzet .... To its east is Ruggles Bay, which forms the coast of Lafonia on East Falkland. Ruggles River
The Ruggles River is a waterway in Qikiqtaaluk Region, Nunavut, Canada. It is located within Ellesmere Island's Quttinirpaaq National Park. The Ruggles River flows southeast to Chandler Fiord and out to Lady Franklin Bay. It is the most high-latitude of the known rivers, whose watercourse persists throughout the year without drying out or freezing of the channel in winter. The inflow of water in winter is provided by Lake Hazen, in the middle part of which its source is located. But during exceptionally cold years, the Ruggles River can freeze to the bottom in winter due to the low level of the lake. The river drops in elevation between its source and its mouth. Ruggles station is an intermodal transfer station in Boston, Massachusetts. It serves Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) rapid transit, bus, and commuter rail services and is located at the intersection of Ruggles and Tremont streets, where the Roxbury, Fenway–Kenmore, and Mission Hill neighborhoods meet. It is surrounded by the campus of Northeastern University. Ruggles is a station stop for the Orange Line subway, as well as the Providence/Stoughton Line, Franklin Line, and Needham Line of the MBTA Commuter Rail system. Thirteen MBTA bus routes stop at Ruggles. Ruggles Mine
Ruggles Mine is an open-pit mine that was turned into a tourist attraction but is now closed and was recently sold. The mine is located northwest of Concord, New Hampshire, in the town of Grafton, a short distance from Route 4 at the village green. The spacious pit includes tunnels and underground chambers, some of which are filled with water. Visitors were allowed to keep any of the various minerals that were found on the mine floor or that could be hammered loose from the walls of the pit. Geology The mineral deposits found in the area, known as the Littleton Formation, date from the Devonian period and have been estimated by geologists to be roughly 350 million to 400 million years old. Over 150 minerals have been discovered at the mine, mica being the most prevalent, but also including feldspar, beryl, amethyst, rose/smoky quartz, and garnet. William Ruggles (September 5, 1797 – September 10, 1877) was a professor at George Washington University. Biography William Ruggles was born in Rochester, Massachusetts, about fifty miles south of present-day Boston, on Tuesday September 5, 1797. He was the son of Elisha Ruggles and Mary Clap who also parented six other children: Nathaniel, Micah, Henry, Charles, James, and Lucy. William was the second youngest child in his family. Not much is known about his childhood growing up in Massachusetts until he enrolled in Brown University; where he later graduated from, at the age of twenty-three, in the class of 1820. Two years after graduating from Brown University, Ruggles became a tutor at Columbian College. On February 9, 1821 Congress chartered Columbian College, a nonsectarian school but with Baptist sponsorship that would not become the George Washington University until January 23, 1904. Episodes were recorded on kinescope, and some of them survive in the UCLA Film and Television Archive.
