Rugby Sevens At The 2022 Commonwealth Games – Women's Tournament
The rugby sevens at the 2022 Commonwealth Games – Women's tournament was the women's event of the Commonwealth Games rugby sevens competition held every four years. It was held at the Coventry Stadium from 29 to 31 July 2022. Venue The tournaments were originally scheduled to take place at Villa Park, but they instead took place at the Coventry Stadium in Coventry. The adjacent Coventry Arena will play host to judo and wrestling. Qualification England qualified as host nation, three nations qualified via the World Rugby Women's Sevens Series, and four nations booked their places in regional qualification tournaments. Competition format In July 2022, eight teams were drawn into two groups; the top two performing teams in each group advanced to the semi-finals, whilst the remaining teams were sent to lower classification matches to determine their final ranking. The Coventry Building Society Arena (often shortened to the CBS Arena or just simply Coventry Arena, and formerly known as the Ricoh Arena) is a complex in Coventry, England. It includes a 32,609-seater stadium which is currently home to football team, Championship club Coventry City F.C. along with facilities which include a exhibition hall, a hotel and a casino. Chloe Daniels (born 27 April 2003) is a Canadian rugby sevens and rugby union player currently playing for Queen's University Women's Rugby Team in Ontario, Canada and the Canadian Women's rugby sevens team. Before playing for the university team, Daniels played for the Aurora Barbarians. Daniels attended Sutton District High School, Ontario and Belmont Secondary School in Langford, British Columbia. Daniels was promoted to Canada's senior women's Sevens training program in 2020. Tyla Nathan-Wong (born 1 July 1994) is a New Zealand professional rugby sevens representative and two-time Olympic medalist. She became a silver medalist at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro and won a gold medal at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. Risealeaana "Risi" Pouri-Lane (born 28 May 2000) is a New Zealand rugby sevens player. She captained the 2018 Youth Olympics squad that won gold in Buenos Aires. Kelly Brazier (born 28 October 1989) is a New Zealand rugby union and sevens player. She has played flyhalf, centre and fullback for the Black Ferns, New Zealand's women's national rugby team, and has competed at three Rugby World Cups in 2010, 2014, and 2017.
