Royal Agricultural Society Of Victoria
The Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) was founded in 1848, when a group of Melbourne's leading citizens formed the Agricultural Society of Victoria with the aim of "furthering the quality of Australia's primary production by means of contests and competitions". RASV promotes the development of and celebrates agriculture through agricultural events and food and drinks awards programs. RASV's flagship event, the Royal Melbourne Show attracts around 450,000 people each year. Royal Melbourne Show
The Melbourne Royal Show is an agricultural show held at Melbourne Showgrounds every September. It is organised by the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria and has been running since 1848. Each year Melbourne Royal Show attracts attendances of up to half a million people. About The traditional purpose is the display of rural industry, including livestock and produce with its associated competitions and awards however the show also features funfair, amusement rides and a sideshow alley, as well as the Australian tradition of 'Showbags', carry bags containing samples of products produced by various commercial enterprises. A prominent feature during showtime are the many rides including a permanent wooden Wild Mouse roller coaster, Mad Mouse roller coaster which resided at the grounds until 2001, owned by Wittingslow Amusements. Australian International Beer Awards
Australian International Beer Awards (AIBA) is an annual brewing competition that commenced in 1992. The AIBA is undertaken by the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV). Judging of the awards is conducted at Melbourne Showgrounds, with the Awards presentation dinner held during Good Beer Week in Melbourne, Australia. The awards were originally the ‘National Beer and Brewing Awards’ and operated in a partnership between RASV and the University of Ballarat. In 1995 the awards became an international competition, with a field of 201 competitors and entries from New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Canada, Indonesia, Malta and Tonga. It was at these awards that the first international winner was announced, ''Cisk Export Premium Lager'' by Simonds Farsons Cisk of Malta winning the Grand Champion Beer award. Australian Distilled Spirits Awards
Australian Distilled Spirits Awards (ADSA) is an annual competition that commenced in 2015. The ADSA is managed by the Royal Agricultural Society of Victoria (RASV) in conjunction with the Australian Distillers Association. Judging of the awards is conducted at Melbourne Showgrounds, with the Awards presentation dinner held in March in Melbourne, Australia. In 2017, the ADSA introduced two new trophies to reflect evolving production techniques, Champion Aromatic Bitters and Champion Micro Lot. Melbourne Showgrounds is located in the inner north-western suburb of Ascot Vale, Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia, next door to Flemington Racecourse.
