Roxanne Martin
Roxanne Martin / Bezhik Anungo Kwe (One Star Woman) is an Anishinaabe artist, educator, author, jingle-dress dancer, LGTBQA2+ activist and small-business entrepreneur. She is the niece and goddaughter of artist Cecil Youngfox. Roxanne is from Wiikwemkoong First Nation and Serpent River First Nation, she is of the Eagle clan. Career Martin was educated in Theatre Arts Production at Cambrian College in Sudbury, Ontario. She holds a BFA from Algoma University and a B.Ed. from the Schulich School of Education at Nipissing University. She has been heavily involved in Ojibwa language preservation through her series of children's books ''Baby WayNa'' made for infants to the age of five. Shingwauk Residential Schools Centre
The Shingwauk Residential Schools Centre (SRSC) is an archival repository and cross-cultural education centre within Algoma University with a special mandate to collect and preserve material relating to the legacy residential schools in Canada, healing and reconciliation, and Indigenous communities. The Shingwauk Residential Schools Centre is jointly governed by Algoma University and the Children of Shingwauk Alumni Association. It is a partner with the Engracia de Jesus Matias Archives and Special Collections which is also located at Algoma University. Wabigoon First Nation
Wabigoon Lake Ojibway Nation, commonly known as Wabigoon First Nation (Anishinaabemowin: ''Waabigoniiw Saaga'iganiiw Anishinaabeg''), is a Saulteaux First Nation band government who inhabit the Kenora District in northwestern Ontario, Canada. It is approximately 19 km southeast of Dryden, Ontario. As of January 2008, the First Nation had a registered population of 533 people, of which their on-Reserve population was 175. History The Wabigoon Lake reserve was first laid out in 1884 and was confirmed by the Ontario government in 1915. Members of the Wabigoon Band of Saulteaux living on the western portion of the Indian reserve moved away and formed the Eagle Lake First Nation. Lac Seul First Nation is an Ojibwe First Nation band government located on the southeastern shores of Lac Seul, northeast of the city of Dryden, Ontario. Though Lac Seul First Nation is a treaty signatory to Treaty 3, the First Nation is a member of the Independent First Nations Alliance, a regional tribal council and a member of the Nishnawbe Aski Nation. The registered population of Lac Seul was 2,837 persons in April 2008, of which the on-reserve population was 774.
