Rowing At The 2020 Summer Olympics – Men's Double Sculls
The men's double sculls event at the 2020 Summer Olympics took place from 23 to 28 July 2021 at the Sea Forest Waterway. 26 rowers from 13 nations competed. Background This was the 25th appearance of the event, which was not held at the first Games in 1896 (when bad weather forced the cancellation of all rowing events), at the 1908 games, and at the 1912 games. The defending medalists in the event were Croatia, Lithuania, and Norway. Lithuania is the only 2016 medalist in the competition. Sea Forest Waterway
The is a regatta venue for rowing (sport), rowing and canoeing, situated in Kōtō and Ōta, Tokyo, Ōta, Tokyo Bay, in Japan. History The venue was built for the 2020 Summer Olympics and 2020 Summer Paralympics, Paralympic Games. Construction began in 2016 and it was inaugurated in June 2019. It was built by Tokyo Metropolitan Government on the waterfront site and is the only rowing venue in Japan that meets international standards. The first international event that was held here were the 2019 World Rowing Junior Championships. Rowing at the 2020 Summer Olympics, Olympic rowing events are held from 23 to 30 July 2021. Christopher Harris (born 19 October 1985) in Durban, South Africa is a New Zealand rower. Harris started rowing while at Whanganui High School. He competed at the 2012 Olympics in the men's four, and the boat came fifth in the B final. He won a bronze medal at the 2015 World Rowing Championships. At the 2017 New Zealand rowing nationals at Lake Ruataniwha, he partnered with Robbie Manson in the men's double sculls and they became national champions. Jack Lopas (born 5 October 1998) is a New Zealand rower. He is nominated to compete at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics in the double sculls in a team with Chris Harris. Early life Lopas was born in 1998 in Christchurch, New Zealand. Rowing runs in the family, with his grandfather Geoff Lopas representing his country at the 1978 World Rowing Championships in the quad scull and going to the Olympics as a reserve rower. His parents met at the Christchurch rowing venue Kerr's Reach; that part of the Avon River / Ōtākaro where clubs and schools have their boathouses. He received his education at Christchurch Boys' High School. In 2017, he went to Yale University to study American History. Stephan Krüger (born 29 November 1988, Rostock) is a German rower. He was part of the German quadruple sculls team at the 2008 Summer Olympics, with René Bertram, Hans Gruhne and Christian Schreiber. The team finished in 6th. In 2009, he won the gold medal in the men's double sculls with Eric Knittel at the 2009 World Championships. In 2011, Krüger and Gruhne won silver in the men's double sculls at the World Championships in Bled.
