Richard Beesly
Richard Beesly (27 July 1907 – 28 March 1965) was a British rower who won an Olympic gold medal at the 1928 Summer Olympics. Beesly was born at Bromsgrove, the son of Gerald Beesly and his wife Helen (née Chamberlain) who was a cousin of Neville Chamberlain. He was educated at Oundle School and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he was a member of the First Trinity Boat Club. He rowed at a number four for the winning Cambridge crew in the Boat Race in 1927 and 1928. Also in 1928, First Trinity represented Great Britain rowing at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, where, at the age of 21, he won an Olympic gold medal in the coxless four with John Lander, Michael Warriner and Edward Bevan. They recorded a time of 6:36.0 in the final to beat the USA crew by 1 second. He was President of C.U.B.C. in 1929 when Cambridge won the Boat Race again. Michael Warriner
Michael Henry Warriner (3 December 1908 – 7 April 1986) was an English rower who competed in the 1928 Summer Olympics representing Great Britain. Warriner was born at Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire. He was educated at Harrow School and Trinity College, Cambridge, where he rowed with the First Trinity Boat Club and was a member of the Pitt Club. First Trinity represented Great Britain rowing at the 1928 Summer Olympics in Amsterdam, where, Warriner won an Olympic gold medal in the coxless four with John Lander, Edward Vaughan Bevan and Richard Beesly. They recorded a time of 6:36.0 in the final to beat the U.S. crew by 1 second. He was also in the winning Cambridge boat in Boat Races of 1928, 1929 and 1930. He was President of the C.U.B.C. in his last year. John Lander (rower)
John Gerard Heath Lander (7 September 1907 – 25 December 1941) was a British rower who competed at the 1928 Summer Olympics. He was killed in action during the Second World War. Lander was born in Liverpool. He attended Shrewsbury School and was in the Shrewsbury crew that won the Ladies' Challenge Plate at Henley Royal Regatta in 1924. He then went to Trinity College, Cambridge, where he crewed for the First Trinity Boat Club.
