Lake Of Banyoles
Lake of Banyoles (or Estany de Banyoles) is a natural lake located in the ''comarca'' "Pla de l'Estany", Province of Girona, in northeastern Catalonia, Spain. It is named after the nearby town of Banyoles, to which it belongs entirely. On the western shore it borders with the town of Porqueres. The lake is approximately 2,100 m by 750 m with an average depth of 15 m that in several points gets down to 46.4 metres. It is located in a natural tectonic depression. Presently Lake Banyoles is the largest natural lake in Catalonia. Lake Sils, located 33 km further south, was formerly the largest lake in the area until it was drained in 1851. Flora and fauna There are both native and introduced fish species in the lake, like carp, ''gardí'', ''bavosa de riu'', sunfish, tench, black bass and eel. Gillian Lindsay
Gillian Lindsay (born 24 September 1973, in Paisley) is a former Team GB Scottish rower. She won silver in the quadruple sculls at the 2000 Summer Olympics silver medalist, and two-time medal winner in the World Championships, taking silver in the double sculls in 1997 and gold in 1998. Since her retirement in 2001, she has focused on coaching and commentating. Career Rowing Encouraged by her former PE teacher, Gillian began rowing at age 13 while a pupil at St Andrew's Academy, Paisley. She trained at Clydesdale Amateur Rowing Club before being selected to join the senior GB international team at age 18 where she was coached by Mike Spracklen. She had her first taste of the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992, as part of in the women's coxless fours, coming in eighth. Kim Susannah Thomas (born 10 October 1967) is a former competitive rower from Great Britain. Early life Thomas was born in 1967 in Wandsworth, Great Britain. She is a member of the Leander Club at Henley-on-Thames. She received her education at Surbiton High School in Surbiton, and then studied engineering at Durham University. She then trained as a teacher concentrating on physics, but later focussed on mathematics. Rowing career She competed at the World Rowing Junior Championships in 1983, 1984, and 1985. In 1983 in Vichy, France, she came fifth with the junior women's eight. In 1984 in Jönköping, Sweden, she came sixth in the junior women's coxed four. A year later in the same boat class but with a different team, she came fifth.
