''Route nationale 12a'' (''RN 12a'') is a primary highway in Madagascar of 232 km, running from Vangaindrano to Tôlanaro (Fort Dauphin). It crosses the regions of Anosy and Atsimo-Atsinanana. 10 ferries have to be taken along this road. Renovation The part between Tolagnaro (Fort Dauphin) and Ebakika Atsimo (45km) is presently being refurnished. Manantenina
Manantenina is a rural municipality in Madagascar. It belongs to the district of Taolanaro, which is a part of Anosy Region. It is situated at the coast of the Indian Ocean at 107 km North of Fort-Dauphin on the unpaved Route nationale 12a. Manantenina lies at southern banks of the Soavary river. In its south the municipality is also crossed by the Ankaramany river. 09 fokontany (villages) are part of this municipality: Manantenina Haut, Manantenina Bas, Ambalateza, Ankarefo, Ampasimasay, Esama, Ankaromanihy, Manambato and Antanintsara. The population of the commune was estimated to be approximately 19,000 in 2001 commune census. Primary and junior level secondary education are available in town. The majority 50% of the population works in fishing. 35% are farmers, while an additional 10% receives their livelihood from raising livestock. Mahatalaky is a rural commune in Madagascar. It belongs to the Districts of Madagascar, district of Taolanaro District, Taolanaro, which is a part of Anosy Region. It is situated at 35 km from Fort Dauphin (Madagascar), Fort Dauphin. The population of the commune was estimated to be approximately 25,000 in 2001 commune census. Primary and junior level secondary education are available in town. Agriculture Farming and raising livestock provides employment for 40% and 20% of the working population. 2009 were produced: Rice (3000 t), manioc (4000 t), banana (480 t), sugar cane (40 t) and coffee beans (50 t). Also fishing is an important factor. In 2009 on the territory of the municipality 40 t of lobster were fished. The rate of analphabetism is high with 48.9 %.
