Rough Fire
The Rough Fire was a wildfire of the 2015 California season. It burned of land, a season record, and was extinguished by 3,742 firefighters. Progression The fire, caused by a lightning strike on July 31, approximately North of Hume Lake, burned mainly in the Sierra National Forest and Sequoia National Forest. On September 2, over 2,500 people were safely evacuated from Hume Lake Christian Camps and surrounding area. All camp events were cancelled and only security personnel remained. On September 5, the fire reached Kings Canyon National Park as it crossed the mark. On September 7, a severely burned firefighter was airlifted to the Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno. Community Regional Medical Center
Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC) is a 685-bed regional hospital and trauma center in Fresno, California. It hosts the Medical Education program of UCSF Fresno, part of a leading medical school in the United States. CRMC is owned by Community Medical Centers, a private nonprofit health system with four hospitals as well as long-term care and other facilities. It began in 1897 with the Burnett Sanitarium, which was sold to the nonprofit corporation Fresno Community Hospital in 1945. Dunlap, California
Dunlap is an unincorporated community in Fresno County, California. It lies at an elevation of . It has a population of 131. It is located approximately east of Fresno. In the 1800s Dunlap was a rest stop for passengers of the stage coach and a location for a change of horses. St. Nicholas Ranch, a conference and retreat center run by the Greek Orthodox Church, is a major attraction. The Greek Orthodox Monastery (Convent) of the Theotokos, the Life-Giving Spring is also located there. Prior to the acquisition of the land by the ranch and the monastery, the land was known as the Sally K Ranch with two of the old ranch dwellings now being occupied by the ranch manager and assigned clergy. General Grant Grove, a section of the greater Kings Canyon National Park, was established by the U.S. Congress in 1890 and is located in Fresno County, California. The primary attraction of General Grant Grove is the giant sequoia trees that populate the grove. General Grant Grove's most well-known tree is called General Grant, which is tall and the third-largest known tree in the world.Traditionally, the size of a sequoia has been measured by calculating the volume of the tree's trunk. History The community of Wilsonia began as a 100-acre plot of land homesteaded in the 1870s. After several ownership changes, the land was subdivided among residents.
