Rosalina Abejo
Sister Maria Rosalina Madroñal Abejo, RVM (July 13, 1922 – June 5, 1991) was a Filipino composer, pianist and conductor. She was born in Tagoloan in Misamis Oriental in the Philippines, and died in Fremont, California. She is the first Filipina composer and conductor, and a nun of the Congregation of the Religious of the Virgin Mary. Her aunt, the late Sister Maria Rosario Madroñal, RVM was her first music teacher. She studied composition at the Philippine Women's University, and in 1977, she moved to the United States, where she studied at Eastman School of Music and The Catholic University of America. She was the first nun to direct and conduct symphony orchestras, by permission of Pope John XXIII. She taught composition and music theory at the University of Kansas and St Pius Seminary in Kentucky. Rosalina Tran Lydster (born September 16, 1962) is a Vietnamese American jewelry designer. She was co-designer of the crown for the Miss Universe 2008 competition. Early life and education Rosalina Lydster was born in Vietnam to Hai Vo, a jeweler for Vietnam’s first lady and other Saigon socialites. Her father Charles TRAN was a trained architect. The family owned a jewelry business that catered to high-end clients. They later moved to The United States in the 1970s and continued the jewelry business in San Francisco. Lydster studied business at San Francisco State University and continued her studies at the Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising. Career After graduation, Lydster began her career as an investment banker. Rosalina Tuyuc Velásquez (born San Juan Comalapa, department of Chimaltenango, 1956) is a Guatemalan human rights activist. She was elected as a Congressional deputy in 1995, elected from the national list of the New Guatemala Democratic Front, and served as Vice President of Congress during that period. Tuyuc is a Kaqchikel Mayan. In June 1982, the Guatemalan Army kidnapped and murdered her father, Francisco Tuyuc. Three years later, on 24 May 1985, her husband suffered the same fate. Rosalina, known as Rosetta in Japan (ロゼッタ), is a recurring fictional character in the ''Mario'' series of video games. She debuted in ''Super Mario Galaxy'' (2007), where she acts as a non-player character who resides in the Comet Observatory, the game's hub world. Petrus Antonius Laurentius Kartner (11 April 1935 – 8 November 2022) was a Dutch musician, singer-songwriter and record producer who performed under the stage name Vader Abraham (''Father Abraham''). He wrote around 1600 songs. Early life and songwriting Kartner was born on 11 April 1935. He started his singing career at the age of eight, by winning a local festival. He lived with his family in Amsterdam and worked in a chocolate factory. Kartner worked as a promoter and producer at record label Dureco with Annie de Reuver, with whom he formed Duo X. He was a member of the band Corry & de Rekels, which sold over one million records in the 1960s. ''Rosalina'' is a genus of foraminifera included in the Rotaliida, rotaliid family Rosalinidae. ''Rosalina'' has a smooth plano-convex to concavo-convex trochospiral test in which the chambers are rapidly enlarging and all visible on the convex spiral side and subtriangular and strongly overlapping on the umbilical side, the final chamber taking up about one-third of the circumference. Sutures on the spiral side are depressed and oblique, curving back at the periphery. The umbilicus is open, partly covered by triangular umbilical flaps extending from each chamber of the final whorl. Chamber interiors are simple and undivided with subacute peripheries. Walls are calcareous, with an organic inner lining, and are distinctly perforate. The aperture is a low interiomarginal arch near the periphery on the umbilical side, with narrow bordering lip.
