Rosa 'Electron'
''Rosa'' 'Electron', also known as Mullard Jubilee, is a bright pink hybrid tea rose developed by Samuel McGredy IV in 1962. Originally named 'Mullard Jubilee', it was introduced into Australia in 1970 as 'Electron'. The rose was named an All-America Rose Selections winner in 1973. Description 'Electron' is a medium-tall upright shrub, up to 2–4 ft (60–120 cm) in height. Its blooms are 4—5 in (10—12 cm) in diameter, with 32 to 40 petals. The rose has a sweet, Damask fragrance. The large, high-centered, cup-shaped petals are generally borne singly on long stems. The petals are bright pink in color. The plant has very prickly stems and dark green glossy leaves. 'Electron' thrives in cool climates, but is prone to fungal diseases in warmer areas. It is recommended for USDA zones 4 and warmer. Hybrid tea is an informal horticultural classification for a group of garden roses. The first hybrid tea roses were created in France in the mid-1800s, by cross-breeding the large, floriferous Hybrid Perpetuals with the tall, elegant Tea roses. The Hybrid tea is the oldest class of Modern garden roses. Hybrid teas exhibit traits midway between their parents, being hardier than the often delicate Tea roses, and with a better ability for repeat-flowering than the more robust Hybrid Perpetuals. Hybrid tea flowers are well-formed with large, high-centred buds, supported by long, straight and upright stems. Each flower can grow to 8–12.5 cm wide. ADR Rose
An ADR rose is a winner in the German ADR rose trial (''Allgemeine Deutsche Rosenneuheitenprüfung''). No chemical pesticides have been allowed since 1997 and breeders often describe the trial as among the most challenging in the world.Pellett 2010, p. 167 The trial is set up by a working group that includes the Bund deutscher Baumschulen (German nurseries association), rose breeders, and eleven independent trial stations in Germany. The trial results are analyzed by the Bundessortenamt (Federal Office of Plant Varieties). Roses are tested over three years and criteria analyzed include disease resistance, hardiness, attractiveness, and habit. About 50 cultivars are judged annually and more than 2000 cultivars have been tested since the award's creation in the 1950s. Roses that no longer fulfill quality standards have their certificate removed. As of November 2013, 161 cultivars are recognized.
