Ruaidrí Ua Conchobair
Ruaidrí mac Tairrdelbach Ua Conchobair (Modern Irish: Ruairí Ó Conchúir; anglicized as Rory O'Conor) ( – 2 December 1198) was Kings of Connacht, King of Connacht from 1156 to 1186, and High King of Ireland from 1166 to 1198. He was the last High King of Ireland before the Anglo-Normans invaded Ireland (Brian Ua Néill and Edward Bruce both claimed the title with opposition in later years but their claims were considered illegitimate). Ruaidrí was one of over twenty sons of King Tairrdelbach Ua Conchobair (1088–1156). He and his sister Mór were Tairrdelbach's only children from his third wife, Cailech Dé Ní hEidin of Aidhne. ''Rig Damna Connachta'' Ruaidrí was not a favourite of his father, his brother Conchobar Ua Conchobair being Tairrdelbach's ''Tanistry, tánaiste'' and designated heir. Rory O'Connor (Irish Republican)
Rory O'Connor ( ga, Ruairí Ó Conchubhair; 28 November 1883 – 8 December 1922) was an Irish republican revolutionary. He was Director of Engineering for the IRA in the Irish War of Independence. O'Connor opposed the Anglo-Irish Treaty of 1921 and was chairman of the Republican Military Council that became the Anti-Treaty IRA in March 1922. He was the main spokesman for the republican side in the lead-up to the outbreak of the Irish Civil War in June of that year. On 30 June, O'Connor was taken prisoner at the conclusion of the attack by Free State forces on the Four Courts in Dublin. On 8 December 1922, he was executed along with four other senior members of the IRA Four Courts garrison. Background O'Connor was born in Kildare Street, Dublin, on 28 November 1883. Rory O'Connor (born 1998) is an Irish hurler who plays for Wexford Senior Championship club St Martin's and at inter-county level with the Wexford senior hurling team. He usually lines out as a corner-forward. Early life Born in Piercestown, County Wexford, O'Connor is the son of John O'Connor and nephew of George O'Connor, both of whom won All-Ireland medals with Wexford in 1996. His brothers, Harry and Jack O'Connor, have also played for Wexford at various levels. Playing career St Peter's College O'Connor first came to prominence as a hurler and Gaelic footballer with St Peter's College in Wexford.
