Roosevelt Park (Malden)
Roosevelt Park was a large open public park in Malden, Massachusetts with three baseball diamonds, open space for football games, a basketball court, a children's playground, and an old field house that had closed prior to the closing of the park itself. The park was also the home field for Malden Catholic High School's football program until the completion of their own stadium, Brother Gilbert Stadium, in 1988. The city of Malden announced plans in the mid-1990s to replace all of the public elementary schools in the city. Malden, Massachusetts
Malden is a city in Middlesex County, Massachusetts, United States. At the time of the 2020 U.S. Census, the population was 66,263 people. History Malden, a hilly woodland area north of the Mystic River, was settled by Puritans in 1640 on land purchased in 1629 from the Pennacook tribe and a further grant in 1639 by the Squaw Sachem of Mistick and her husband, Webcowet. The area was originally called the "Mistick Side" and was a part of Charlestown. It was incorporated as a separate town in 1649 under the name "Mauldon". The name Malden was selected by Joseph Hills, an early settler and landholder, and was named after Maldon, England.
