Ronald Muldrow
Ronald Muldrow (February 2, 1949 in Chicago – January 31, 2007 in Los Angeles) was a soul jazz and hard bop jazz guitarist. As an emerging jazz guitarist in the early 1970s, Muldrow connected with soul-jazz saxophonist Eddie Harris and contributed to many of his Atlantic albums from 1971 to 1976 and reunited with the saxophonist on ''Listen Here'' (1982). A teenage Muldrow heard jazz guitarist Wes Montgomery play "Canadian Sunset" on the radio and was captivated. His first big-time gig was with the Staple Singers, a gospel group. He also taught at various colleges and had published guitar-instruction books. Muldrow began forming bands in high school and earned a bachelor's in jazz studies from Roosevelt University in Illinois and a master's in studio and jazz guitar from the USC Thornton School of Music. ''Excursions'' is an album by the American jazz saxophonist Eddie Harris released on the Atlantic label, mainly recorded in 1973 but featuring some tracks recorded in 1966 and 1967. Luther Thomas

He was involved with the Black Artists Group starting in the 1960s, played in the Human Arts Ensemble with Charles Bobo Shaw in the 1970s, and led a group called Dizzazz in the early 1980s. He has also played saxophone for James Chance and the Contortions. Thomas-led sessions from the early 1970s have been reissued on CD as part of Atavistic Records' Unheard Music Series. J'ai Janett Michel, known professionally as Sweet Baby J'ai, is an American contemporary jazz singer, songwriter, producer, arranger, and playwright. Background She grew up in Kansas City. She wrote songs at age of five and three years later managed to enter clubs where her father played guitar. Her uncle, Vernon Gower, was a bassist for Billie Holiday and Lionel Hampton. Her cousin Michael Howell was a guitarist for Dizzy Gillespie. Career In the 1980s she moved to Los Angeles and received lessons from Phil Moore. She performed with Teddy Edwards and Phil Upchurch. For many years she worked pianist Nate Morgan, guitarist Ronald Muldrow, and drummer Sherman Ferguson. Phil Perry
Philip Eugene Perry (born January 12, 1952) is an American R&B singer, songwriter, musician and a former member of the soul group, The Montclairs, from 1971 to 1975. He was also known for performing the opening song to Disney’s sitcom, ''Goof Troop''. Biography Discovered by Catholic nuns while singing high masses in his Catholic Church (St. Elizabeth in East St. Louis), and a high-school talent show favorite, Phil Perry wrote and recorded his first single "Hey You" with The Montclairs, who were also based in East St. Louis. They were signed to the Archway Records label just before Perry turned 17 years old in 1969. The song is considered to be the first of a classic soul collection of Perry 'Old School' singles popular in the 1970s. Hubert Laws (born November 10, 1939) is an American flutist and saxophonist with a career spanning over 40 years in jazz, classical, and other music genres. Laws is one of the few classical artists who has also mastered jazz, pop, and rhythm-and-blues genres, moving effortlessly from one repertory to another.
