Ron Jones (6 August 1945 – 9 July 1995) was a British television director. Born in Bristol, he joined the BBC as a studio manager in local radio then became an assistant floor manager on television. After a period as a researcher and item director on ''Blue Peter'' he worked as a production manager on series such as '' Bergerac'' and '' Secret Army''. On completing the BBC's internal director's course, he was commissioned to direct for ''Doctor Who'' and contributed six stories in the 1980s: '' Black Orchid'', ''Time-Flight'', ''Arc of Infinity'', ''Frontios'', ''Vengeance on Varos'' and ''Mindwarp''. Ron Jones (teacher)
Ron Jones (born 1941) is an American writer and formerly a teacher in Palo Alto, California. He is internationally known for his classroom exercise called " The Third Wave" and the book he wrote about the event, which inspired the made-for-TV movie '' The Wave'' and other works, including a theatrical film in 2008. The original TV movie won the Emmy and Peabody Awards. His books '' The Acorn People'' and ''B-Ball'' have also been made into TV dramas. Jones lives in San Francisco, California where he regularly performs as a storyteller. Career In April 1967, while working as a teacher at Cubberley High School in Palo Alto, Jones created a project with his 15-year-old World History students in which they experienced the growth of a fascist movement, called The Wave. Ronald Jones (19 August 1934 – 30 December 2021) was a British track and field athlete. Career Jones represented Great Britain at two consecutive Summer Olympics, starting with the 1964 Tokyo Games. He was Britain's team captain in the 1968 Mexico Games. He combined with Peter Radford, David Jones and Berwyn Jones to equal the world 4 x 110 yds world record in 1963 with 40.0 secs. Ron held the Welsh 100m record for 27 years until it was beaten by future world 110m hurdles record holder Colin Jackson with 10.29 in 1990. Ronald Glen Jones (June 11, 1964 – June 4, 2006) was a professional baseball player for the Philadelphia Phillies during the late 1980s and early 1990s. He displayed great promise as a hitter, but his career was spoiled by two severe knee injuries. Life and career Born in Seguin, Texas, Jones was drafted in 1982 and 1983 but chose not to turn professional. Eventually, in 1984, he signed with the Phillies as a free agent. The stocky outfielder battled some problems with weight and injuries, but he displayed great hitting talent in the farm system. His ability at the plate and capable defense eventually earned him a spot with the big league club. However, after a promising first couple of months in August and September 1988, in April 1989 Jones suffered the first of two torn patellar tendons. Ron Jones is a Welsh sports commentator. Broadcasting career Jones began working for the BBC in 1979. His broadcasting career began when he was living and working as a sports coach in Jamaica when was asked to work on local programmes. When he returned to the UK, Ron lectured at the University of Wales before moving to London in 1984 to focus on sports commentating, primarily football. He covered football on BBC Radio Wales for a number of years and even did a few television commentaries for BBC Wales but his main career progression came when he moved to BBC Radio 2 (which covered sport before BBC Radio 5 Live was set up), where he could be heard nationally working alongside fellow Welshman Peter Jones as well as Bryon Butler and Alan Green. Ron Jones (born 1948) is a British businessman and executive chair of Tinopolis, one of the UK's largest television production companies. Previously a partner in the accounting and consultancy firm Arthur Andersen. He was a founder of Tinopolis in 1990 and has led the company since that time.
