Ron Bailey (rugby League)
Ron Bailey (1914–1989) was an Australian rugby league footballer who played in the 1930s, and 1940s. He was a New South Wales Country, New South Wales and Australian representative whose club career was played with Waratah Mayfield, Newtown, Canterbury-Bankstown in Sydney and overseas with Huddersfield. He captained his country in one Test in 1946 and was the first Canterbury-Bankstown player to do so. Club career Bailey was graded with the Waratah Mayfield club at age 18. After that, he went on to represent the Country New South Wales rugby league team in 1935-36. In 1936 he came to the attention of Sydney talent scouts when he represented for Newcastle against a touring English side, downing the visitors 21-6. Bailey came to Sydney for Newtown in 1937 and playing at alongside Frank Hyde helped Newtown to win the City Cup that year. Ronald Leslie Bailey (15 December 1926 – 16 April 2015) was a New Zealand politician of the Labour Party. Biography Early life and career Bailey was born in Napier in 1926. He grew up in various public works camps during the Great Depression and attended four different primary schools in the central North Island. After attending four different primary schools, he received his secondary education at Wairoa District High School (now Wairoa College) and Gisborne High School. His first jobs were as a clerk and a carpenter. He became a union organiser in 1956 where he inspected living conditions in the agricultural sector. He and his union were staunch Anti-communist and allegedly he was a member of the far-right World Anti-Communist League's New Zealand chapter. Ronald Bailey (born November 23, 1953) is an American Libertarianism in the United States, libertarian Science journalism, science writer. He has written or edited several books on economics, ecology, and biotechnology. Personal life Bailey was born in San Antonio, Texas, and raised in Washington County, Virginia. He lives in Washington, D.C., and Charlottesville, Virginia, with his wife Pamela. Career Bailey attended the University of Virginia, where he earned a B.A. in philosophy and economics in 1976. He worked briefly as an economist for the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission. From 1987 to 1990 he contributed articles to Forbes. Ronald William Bailey (1917-2010) was a British diplomat who specialised in Middle East affairs. His career culminated in his appointment as British Ambassador to Morocco. Biography Reading Spanish and French at Trinity Hall, Cambridge, he became friendly with an Egyptian minister's son who invited him to Egypt, where they rode out with the Camel Corps and met a former prime minister at King Tutankhamun's tomb. Bailey's first posting was Beirut, where he was a Probationer Vice-Consul, also taking Arabic classes at the American University. After the fall of France in 1940 he arrived in Alexandria as vice-consul to receive a telegram announcing the arrival next day of 2,000 refugees from Greece. Two thousand mattresses were found; local ladies made corned beef soup; and ambulances were summoned after one of the ships was bombed.
