Roland The Mighty
''Roland the Mighty'' ( it, Orlando e i Paladini di Francia) is a 1956 Italian film directed by Pietro Francisci. about the Battle of Roncevaux Pass in AD 778, where Roland, a knight in the service of Charlemagne was killed while defending the rear-guard of the Franks, Frankish army as it retreated across the Pyrenees. Plot Charlemagne and Agramante are at war. The Saracen king devises a plan to weaken the opponent: he asks for a truce and sends the beautiful Angelica to the Frankish Kingdom with the intent of sowing discord among the paladins by creating a rivalry of love. Pietro Francisci (9 September 1906 – 1977) was an Italian film director, best remembered for the film ''Hercules'' (1958) which inspired the sword and sandal boom of the late 1950s and early 1960s. Born in Rome, his career took a distinct turn for the worse after he directed the 1966 science-fiction film ''2+5 Missione Hydra'', released in the U.S. in 1977 as ''Star Pilot''. Mimmo Palmara
Domenico "Mimmo" Palmara (25 July 1928 – 10 June 2016) was an Italian actor. Biography Born in Cagliari, Palmara made his film debut in 1952 as a character actor in drama films by eminent directors such as Luchino Visconti, Mario Monicelli and Antonio Pietrangeli, then obtained main roles in a great number of genre films, especially adventure films and peplum films. When the sword and sandals genre declined, he took part at a number of Spaghetti Westerns in which he is usually credited as Dick Palmer. A close friend of Sergio Leone, he was Leone's first choice for the role of Ramon in ''A Fistful of Dollars''; Palmara eventually chose to star in Mario Caiano's '' Bullets Don't Argue'' and the role of Ramon was played by Gian Maria Volonté. Rossella Como (29 January 1939 – 20 December 1986) was an Italian actress and television personality. Life and career Born in Rome, Rossella Como started her career at just 16 years old as a TV presenter, in the RAI show ''Primo applauso''. Shortly later she made her film debut in a little but critically appreciated role in the Dino Risi's comedy film ''Poveri ma belli''. From then Como appeared with some frequency both as an actress and as a presenter in films and on television, as well as on stage. In 1973 she was author and main actress of ''Roma Amor'', a successful stage musical where she alternated Roman folk songs to sonnets of Pier Paolo Pasolini and Trilussa and with which she long toured in Italy and Latin America.
