Roger Price (television Producer)
Roger Damon Price (born 1941) is a British former television producer, director and writer active in the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States. He has created children's television series in all three countries. He created the children's science fiction series ''The Tomorrow People'', ''Junior Points of View'', the British children's sketch variety shows ''You Must Be Joking!'' (1974-1976), '' Pauline's Quirkes'' (1976) (both of which had Flintlock as their house band) and ''You Can't Be Serious'' (1978) for Thames Television, the American sketch comedy ''Don't Look Now'', co-created the pilot episode ''UFO Kidnapped'', the teen sketch comedy ''Turkey Television'' and the Canadian sketch comedy ''You Can't Do That on Television'', which became hugely successful on Nickelodeon in the United States. UFO Kidnapped
''UFO Kidnapped'' is a 1983 Nickelodeon production created by Roger Price and Geoffrey Darby. It was originally going to be a series and although the pilot aired on Nickelodeon, the series was not picked up. It used many of the cast members from ''You Can't Do That on Television'' including its main character Les Lye, and was filmed in Toronto, Ontario. Synopsis The episode starts when Lye (Sam Smythe) is in a house where he was doing a burglary, and the lights start flashing on and off. When he suspects something is very wrong, he runs outside in a state of panic. While running he falls on the ground, as he looks up a UFO is hovering over him! Then a giant green ball comes and takes him inside of the UFO. The CTV Television Network, commonly known as CTV, is a Canadian English-language terrestrial television network. ITV is a British free-to-air public broadcast television network. It was launched in 1955 as Independent Television to provide competition to BBC Television (established in 1936). ITV is the oldest commercial network in the UK. Since the passing of the Broadcasting Act 1990, it has been legally known as Channel 3 to distinguish it from the other analogue channels at the time, BBC1, BBC2 and Channel 4. The Tomorrow People (1973 TV Series)
''The Tomorrow People'' is a British children's science fiction television series created by Roger Price. Produced by Thames Television for the ITV Network, the series first ran from 30 April 1973 to 19 February 1979. The theme music was composed by Australian music composer, Dudley Simpson, who composed music for two BBC science fiction dramas, ''Doctor Who'' (1963) and ''Blake’s 7'' (1978). In 1992, after having much success with replays of the original series in America, Nickelodeon requested Price and Thames Television for a new version to be piloted and filmed at Nickelodeon Studios Florida in April 1992, with Price acting as executive producer. This version used the same basic premise as the original series with some changes, and ran until 8 March 1995. ''Jackanory'' is a BBC children's television series which was originally broadcast between 1965 and 1996. It was designed to stimulate an interest in reading. The show was first transmitted on 13 December 1965, and the first story was the fairy-tale "Cap-o'-Rushes" read by Lee Montague. ''Jackanory'' continued to be broadcast until 1996, with around 3,500 episodes in its 30-year run. The final story, ''The House at Pooh Corner'' by A. A. Geraldine Laybourne (''née'' Bond; born May 19, 1947) is an American entrepreneur and former TV executive. She worked at Nickelodeon from 1980 until 1996, when she became the president of Disney-ABC Cable Networks (including Disney Channel). She is also the co-founder of Oxygen Media and a tech startup called Katapult. In 2020, she was inducted into the Television Hall of Fame. He was the co-creator of children's sketch comedy ''You Can't Do That on Television'' and was a writer and director for the show's first five seasons. Career Darby co-created the game show ''Double Dare (franchise), Double Dare'' for Nickelodeon and hosted the unaired television pilot, pilot.
