Roger Clarke (martyr)
The Ipswich Martyrs were nine people burnt at the stake for their Lollard or Protestant beliefs around 1515-1558. The executions were mainly carried out in the centre of Ipswich, Suffolk on The Cornhill, the square in front of Ipswich Town Hall. At that time the remains of the medieval church of St Mildred were used for the town's Moot Hall. Later, in 1644 Widow Lackland was executed on the same site on the orders of Matthew Hopkins, the notorious Witchfinder General. Other groups of Protestants were persecuted (and some martyred) in various parts of Suffolk during the same period, notably those of Hadleigh, Beccles, Yoxford, Laxfield, Wetheringsett, Stowmarket, Framsden, Hintlesham, Haverhill, Winston, Mendlesham, Stoke-by-Nayland, East Bergholt, Dedham, Thwaite, Bedfield, Crowfield, Long Melford, Somerton and Little Stonham. The most famous was Dr Rowland Taylor of Hadleigh, burnt on Aldham Common in 1555. His ghost is said to haunt both Hadleigh and Aldham. ...

Roger Clarke (June 11, 1940 – August 28, 2014) was a Jamaican politician. He was the Minister of Agriculture from 2012 until his death. Clarke, who had recovered from a successful back surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital, died on August 28, 2014, from a suspected heart attack at Fort Lauderdale International Airport in Florida Florida is a state located in the Southeastern region of the United States. Roger Clarke is a rugby union administrator from Royal Tunbridge Wells, Kent, England. Personal life Clarke was educated at Royal Tunbridge Wells Grammar school, The Skinners' School where he also played rugby union for the school. Clarke then went on the University of Cambridge, whom he also played rugby for, where he graduated with a geography degree. Professional career Clarke then became a geography teacher until, after taking government-recommended experience in industry, he left teaching to work in various trade federations and dairy companies before becoming the chief executive of the National Federation of Retail Newsagents. As chief executive, he modernised the National Federation of Retail Newsagents by founding their commercial section and creating a symbol group for them called Quix. Roger Geoffrey Clarke (8 July 1952 – 28 January 2007), was an English ornithologist and world authority on harriers and other birds of prey.Obituary in ''The Times'', 13 February 2007 Early life Roger Geoffrey Clarke was born on 8 July 1952 in Bedford, England. He was educated at Bedford Modern School and later qualified as a Chartered Accountant which he practiced for the rest of his life while still pursuing his main interest as an ornithologist. Clarke was said to have been 'vaguely interested in birds from his youth' but he was keener on playing lead guitar in a rock band until hearing damage ended his musical career. It was in fact a love of angling that steered him towards ornithology. In 1981 he moved to Reach to fish pike and bream and would watch hen harriers hunting over the landscape.
