''Rockin' the Suburbs'' is the debut studio album by American alternative rock singer-songwriter Ben Folds. His first solo album after leaving his band Ben Folds Five, ''Rockin' the Suburbs'' was recorded in Adelaide, Australia, where Folds was living at the time and was released on the same day as the September 11 attacks. "Rockin' the Suburbs" is Folds' only single to make ''Billboards Modern Rock Tracks chart, peaking there at number 28. The album peaked at number 42 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart, and at number 11 on the Top Internet Albums chart. A remake of the title track featuring William Shatner appeared in the soundtrack for the 2006 film ''Over the Hedge'', which stars Shatner as an opossum named Ozzie. Ben Folds
Benjamin Scott Folds (born September 12, 1966) is an American singer-songwriter, musician, and composer, who is the first artistic advisor to the National Symphony Orchestra at the Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., since May 2017. Folds was the frontman and pianist of the alternative rock trio Ben Folds Five from 1993 to 2000, and again in the early 2010s during their reunion. He has recorded a number of solo albums and performed live as a solo artist. He has also collaborated with musicians such as William Shatner, Regina Spektor, "Weird Al" Yankovic, and yMusic, and undertaken experimental songwriting projects with authors such as Nick Hornby and Neil Gaiman. Darren Jessee
Darren Michael Jessee is an American drummer and singer-songwriter best known as a member of the alternative rock trio Ben Folds Five. Jessee has also worked as an instrumentalist for Sharon Van Etten and Hiss Golden Messenger and released two solo albums and four albums as singer and songwriter for indie band Hotel Lights. His first solo album, ''The Jane, Room 217'', was released on August 24th, 2018, to near-universal acclaim from critics. "Rockin' the Suburbs" is a song by Ben Folds on the album of the same name. Music and lyrics Folds said of the inspiration for the song: "I used to do this big rant at the end of some gigs with Ben Folds Five. The band broke into this big heavy metal thing and I started as a joke to scream in a heavy metal falsetto. I found myself saying things like: Feel my pain, I am white, feel my pain. I was going to write this song about Korn. I don't know, it wasn't as funny when I directed it at somebody. So I thought I would write it not directed to anybody. I mean, I would be happy to tell the guys from Korn that I wrote a song about them, but I think, when people listen to it, it is a better song when it is not directed to anybody." Still Fighting It
"Still Fighting It" is a song by Ben Folds released in 2002 as the second single from his 2001 album ''Rockin' the Suburbs''. The song is a bittersweet ode to the pain of adolescence dedicated to his son Louis. He would later write an accompanying song for his daughter Gracie on the 2005 album ''Songs for Silverman'', and he often performs the two songs together live. The B-sides on the single release of "Still Fighting It" are live versions of "Zak & Sara" from ''Rockin' the Suburbs'' and "Boxing" from Ben Folds Five's self-titled debut album. Angela Aki covered the song for the B-Side of her single " Tegami: Haikei Jūgo no Kimi e", which was released in 2008.
