Ashburn is a census-designated place (CDP) in Loudoun County, Virginia, United States. At the 2010 United States Census, its population was 43,511, up from 3,393 twenty years earlier. It is northwest of Washington, D.C., and part of the Washington metropolitan area. Ashburn is a major hub for Internet traffic, due to its many data centers. Andrew Blum characterized it as the "bullseye of America's Internet". History Ashburn was originally called "Farmwell" (variant names include "Old Farmwell" and "Farmwell Station") after a nearby mansion of that name owned by George Lee III. Lightridge High School
Lightridge High School is a public high school in Aldie, Virginia. Lightridge is within the jurisdiction of Loudoun County Public Schools. The school was opened at the beginning of the 2020–21 school year. History The name “Lightridge” was chosen to recognize the history of agriculture and dairy farming in the area. The school is located off Lightridge Farm Road and near the site of Lightridge Farm, a now-closed dairy farm which operated for more than 60 years and was the last working dairy farm in Loudoun County east of Route 15. The Potomac District is a high school conference in the United States Virginia High School League that is made up of mostly schools from Loudoun County that have a high enrollment capacity. History of the District Original District The original Potomac District was founded in 1965 when the Northern Region expanded from two to three districts along with the Alexandria District and the Northern District.
