Rock Bottom (SpongeBob SquarePants Episode)
"Rock Bottom" is the second segment of the 17th episode of the first season of the American animated television series ''SpongeBob SquarePants''. It first aired on Nickelodeon in the United States on March 15, 2000. In the episode, SpongeBob gets stranded in an abyssopelagic zone that is a city called Rock Bottom. The episode was written by Paul Tibbitt, Ennio Torresan, and David Fain, and the animation was directed by Tom Yasumi. Upon release, "Rock Bottom" was viewed by two million households and received positive reviews from critics. Plot summary SpongeBob and Patrick board a bus to go home from Glove World, a glove-themed amusement park. They accidentally board the wrong bus, which then takes them to a 90-degree cliff. The cliff leads to an abyssopelagic zone called Rock Bottom, which is inhabited by many strange deep-sea animals. Mall of America (MOA) is a large shopping mall located in Bloomington, Minnesota, United States. Located within the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area, the mall lies southeast of the junction of Interstate 494 and Minnesota State Highway 77, north of the Minnesota River, and across the Interstate from the Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport. ''SpongeBob SquarePants Rock Bottom Plunge'' is a Gerstlauer Euro-Fighter roller coaster located at Nickelodeon Universe in the Mall of America, Bloomington, Minnesota. Standing 74.5 feet tall, it is the tallest roller coaster in the park. It also features a beyond vertical (97 degrees) drop. It is the first roller coaster themed to SpongeBob SquarePants, and opened with the Nickelodeon Universe grand opening on March 15, 2008. The ride features a vertical loop, and a heartline roll. The ride was installed by Ride Entertainment Group, who handles all of Gerstlauer's operations in the Western Hemisphere. History and development In 2007, the ride replaced Camp Snoopy's Mystery Mine attraction which housed the ''SpongeBob SquarePants'' 4-D ride and The Funtastic World of Hanna-Barbera ride (under the name of Yogi's Big Rescue). ''Hogan's Alley'', a publication devoted to comic art, is subtitled ''the magazine of the cartoon arts''. It has been published on an irregular schedule since 1994 by Bull Moose Publishing in Atlanta. Covering comic strips, comic books, cartoons and animation, each hefty issue contains at least 144 pages with a square-backed spine. Originally planned as a quarterly, the frequency is closer to that of an annual, with 20 issues published in 22 years. The editor is Tom Heintjes, who also edits three magazines for the Federal Reserve Bank.
