Rock 2.0, formerly Modern Rock, was a 24-hour music format produced by the Dial Global Radio Networks, and formerly distributed through its now-defunct Dial Global Local service. Its playlist is composed of highly tested classic rock from the 1980s combined with alternative and active rock music released from the 1990s to this day from artists such as Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nirvana, Nickelback, Pearl Jam, Metallica, etc. This satellite/internet-driven programming service predominantly targets male listeners in the 18–44 demographic range with a 20- to 40-year-old target. There are two types of radio network currently in use around the world: the one-to-many (simplex communication) broadcast network commonly used for public information and mass-media entertainment, and the two-way radio ( duplex communication) type used more commonly for public safety and public services such as police, fire, taxicabs, and delivery services. Triton Digital, LLC, formerly Triton Media Group, is a digital audio technology and advertising company based in Los Angeles. The group was formally owned by E. W. Scripps Company which sold Triton to IHeartMedia in October 2020. Westwood One is an American radio network owned by Cumulus Media. The company syndicates talk, music, and sports programming. The company takes its name from an earlier network also named Westwood One, a company founded in 1978. The company was, at various times, managed by CBS Radio, the radio arm of CBS Corporation and Viacom. It was later purchased by the private equity firm The Gores Group before merging with Dial Global in 2011. In December 2013, Dial Global was, in turn, acquired by Cumulus Media. Prior to the sale's completion, Dial Global re-assumed the Westwood One name. After the completion of the purchase, Westwood One was merged into the Cumulus Media Networks division (the former ABC Radio Networks). Dial Global Local
Dial Global Local (formerly Waitt Radio Networks) was a national radio network based in Omaha, Nebraska, formerly owned by NRG Media and purchased in April 2008 by Triton Radio Networks. As a subsidiary of Dial Global, they specialized in 24-hour formats for affiliated radio stations across the United States and Canada which are specifically localized for their client stations, although they also were known for commercial production services. Dial Global Local also provides their affiliates with coverage of breaking news events. In June 2012, due to reorganizations at Dial Global, the Dial Global Local 24/7 formats were fully integrated into Dial Global's portfolio of formats, and "Dial Global Local" ceased to exist as a brand name.
