Robert William Wallis (7 November 1794 – 23 November 1878) was an English engraver. Life and work Wallis born in London, the son of Thomas Wallis, who was an assistant of Charles Heath (1785–1848) and died in 1839. He was taught by his father, and became one of the ablest of the group of supremely skilful landscape-engravers who flourished during the second quarter of the nineteenth century, particularly excelling in the interpretation of the work of Joseph Mallord William Turner. He engraved illustrations for Turner's "Picturesque Views on the Southern Coast of England" (with George Cooke), Turner's "England and Wales" and "Rivers of France", Charles Heath's "Picturesque Annual", Robert Jennings's ‘Landscape Annual’,Robert Jennings. Robert Wallis (born 1904; date of death unknown) was an English footballer who played one game as a goalkeeper for Port Vale in May 1925. Career Wallis played for Trentham before joining Port Vale in July 1924. He played his only league game for the Second Division club on the last day of the 1924–25 season, a 1–1 draw with Fulham at Craven Cottage on 2 May. Regular number one Tom Fern was out and back-up Sidney Brown had conceded four goals at Old Trafford seven days previous. Robert Wallis was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1597 and 1611. Wallis came from a Cambridge family and was possibly the son of Edward Wallis, bailiff of Cambridge. By 1587 he had set up his own household and in due course became an alderman of Cambridge. Bob Wallis
Robert Wallis (3 June 1934 – 10 January 1991) was a British jazz musician, who had a handful of chart success in the early 1960s, during the UK traditional jazz boom. Biography Wallis was born in Bridlington, East Riding of Yorkshire, where his father became harbour master. At an early age Wallis joined the local Salvation Army band with his friend, Keith Avison, who was to play trombone with Wallis for a number of years. By the age of twenty, Wallis discovered jazz and set up his own band in Bridlington, which also played in Hull. His influence as a trumpeter was Henry Red Allen. Wallis played predominately with the Storyville Jazz Band, although earlier and later in his career he played with other bands. He went to Denmark for a short spell, and recorded a couple of records there as the vocalist with the 'Washboard Beaters'.
