Robert Stephens
Sir Robert Graham Stephens (14 July 193112 November 1995) was a leading English actor in the early years of Britain's Royal National Theatre. He was one of the most respected actors of his generation and was at one time regarded as the natural successor to Laurence Olivier. Early life and career Stephens was born in Shirehampton, Bristol, in 1931, the eldest of three children of shipyard labourer and costing surveyor Reuben Stephens (19051985) and chocolate-factory worker Gladys Millicent (née Deverill; 19061975). When aged 18, he won a scholarship to Esme Church's Bradford Civic Theatre School in Yorkshire, where he met his first wife Nora, a fellow student. Robert Kellard, aka Robert Stevens (April 23, 1915 – January 13, 1981), was an American actor who appeared in over 60 films between 1937 and 1951. Early years Kellard was born Robert Dorsey Kellard April 23, 1915, in Los Angeles, California. His father, Ralph Kellard (1884–1955), was also an actor. Robert Kellard graduated from Hollywood High School and attended Santa Monica Junior College for a year. His older brother, Thomas, acted in films briefly before going into a different career. Robert Stephens (1665–1732), who was appointed historiographer royal in 1727, was a public servant and historian. He was the first to publish much of Francis Bacon's private correspondence. Life Born in 1665, Robert Stephens was the fourth son of Richard Stephens of the elder house of that name at Eastington in Gloucestershire, by his wife Anne, eldest daughter of Sir Hugh Cholmeley, bart. His first education was at Wotton school, whence he removed to Lincoln College, Oxford, matriculating on 19 May 1681, but he left the university without taking a degree. He was called to the bar at the Middle Temple in 1689, and was one of the founders of the Society of Antiquaries in 1717. Robert Grier Stephens Jr. (August 14, 1913 – February 20, 2003) was a United States representative from Georgia. Stephens was born in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a great-great nephew of Alexander Stephens, a grandson of Clement Anselm Evans and a distant cousin of 19th-century U.S. Supreme Court Justice Robert Cooper Grier. Robert Stephens graduated from Boys High School in 1931. He attended the University of Georgia at Athens and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in 1935, a Master of Arts in 1937, and a bachelor of laws ( L.B.) in 1941. Robert Neilson Stephens (July 22, 1867 - January 20, 1906) was an American novelist and playwright. ''An Enemy to the King'', both a play and a novel, was one of his best known works. ''An Enemy to the King'' was also adapted for the cinema under the same title, An Enemy to the King, in 1916. Stephens was born in New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania on July 22, 1867 to James Andrew and Rebecca (Neilson) Stephens. His father died when he was 9, and his mother then became a teacher.
