Captain Robert John Shaw MBE (10 February 1900 – 5 August 1995) was an English Royal Navy officer and cricketer. As a cricketer, he played as a right-handed batsman who fielded occasionally as a wicket-keeper. The son of Edward Domett Shaw, the first Bishop of Buckingham, and Agnes Shaw, he was born at High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. Naval career Shaw entered the Royal Navy in 1913, where he was educated at Royal Naval College, Osborne and Royal Naval College, Dartmouth, where he studied until the end of 1915. Shaw served in the latter stages of World War I with the Royal Navy, entering as a midshipman. Six months into his wartime service, he took part in the Battle of Jutland, second-in-command of a gun turret on the battleship . Robert J. Shaw (born 24 December 1944) is an Australian professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour in the 1970s. Shaw was born in Sydney. He turned professional in 1965. Shaw played in Europe in 1968, winning the Spanish Open. Later in the year he successfully qualified for the PGA Tour at 1968 APG Tour Qualifying School. His best finishes in PGA Tour events were a T-2 at both the 1969 Tallahassee Open and the 1971 Greater Milwaukee Open plus a win at the 1972 Tallahassee Open with a 15-under-par 273 by two strokes over Leonard Thompson. His best finish in a major was T20 at the 1972 PGA Championship. Robert John Shaw (June 29, 1933 – September 23, 2010) was an American professional baseball player. A right-handed pitcher, he played in Major League Baseball on seven teams for 11 seasons, from 1957 to 1967. In 1962, he was a National League (NL) All-Star player. In 1966, he led all National League pitchers with a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage. Career Shaw made his major league debut with the Detroit Tigers on August 11, 1957. The Tigers traded Shaw and Ray Boone to the Chicago White Sox for Tito Francona and Bill Fischer on June 15, 1958. In 1959, Shaw won 18 games for the American League pennant-winning White Sox. The White Sox faced the Los Angeles Dodgers in the 1959 World Series. Shaw defeated Sandy Koufax with a 1–0 shutout in Game 5, but the Dodgers defeated the White Sox in six games. Robert Leslie Shaw (born October 15, 1956) is a former American football Center (American football), center in the National Football League (NFL) for the Dallas Cowboys. He played college football at the University of Tennessee. Early years Shaw attended Joseph Wheeler High School and played varsity American football, football for three years, receiving All-American, state football lineman of the year and All-state honors in his senior season of 1975. He also practiced basketball and Swimming (sport), swimming. He went on to play college football at Tennessee University, where he was a three-year starter at center (American football), center, and earned second-team Southeastern Conference, All-SEC honors in 1977 and 1978. Bobby T. Shaw II (born April 23, 1975 in San Francisco, California) is a former American football wide receiver in the National Football League. Shaw has played for five NFL teams: Seattle Seahawks, Pittsburgh Steelers, Jacksonville Jaguars, Buffalo Bills, and San Diego Chargers. Shaw attended Galileo High School and played college football at California. He graduated Cal as the school's all-time leader in receptions with 180 catches for 2,731 yards and 27 touchdowns. In 1996, Steve Mariucci became Cal's head coach. Shaw prospered under Mariucci, with 12 catches for 168 yards in a game against UCLA and three touchdowns scores in a 48-42 triple-overtime win over Oregon State. Robert Shaw (May 22, 1921 – April 10, 2011) was an American football end in the National Football League (NFL). Shaw lettered three times each in football, basketball and track at Fremont Ross High School. He was first-team All-Ohio in both football and basketball and won the shot put and discus in the state track and field meet. At Ohio State University, he lettered twice in football. Playing right end, on both offense and defense, Shaw was part of the Buckeyes' first NCAA National Championship team in 1942 and was named a first-team All American for that season. He also lettered in basketball and track, helping the Buckeyes to their first Western Conference track crown in 1942. Shaw was inducted into Ohio State University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1996. Sir Robert Shaw, 1st Baronet (29 January 1774 – 10 March 1849) of Bushy Park, Dublin was a Tory UK Member of Parliament who represented Dublin City from 1804 to 1826. Sir Robert's great-great-grandfather, William Shaw, had gone to Ireland and fought for King William at the Battle of the Boyne in 1689, and was rewarded by the grant of land there.
