Robert O'Connor (author)
Robert O'Connor (born 1959) is an American novelist and professor. His satiric novel ''Buffalo Soldiers'' was adapted into the 2001 movie of the same name. Personal life O'Connor received a B.A. in English/Writing Arts from the State University of New York at Oswego, and an M.A. in English from Syracuse University. As of 2005, he teaches Intermediate Fiction, Advanced Fiction and Intermediate Screenwriting at SUNY Oswego. Literary career He is the author of a novel, 1993's ''Buffalo Soldiers'', which was adapted into the film of the same name. The literary magazine ''Granta'' called him one of the most promising young novelists, and novelist James Carroll, in a positive review in ''The New York Times'', called him a "fine novelist." In the United Kingdom, ''Buffalo Soldiers'' was highly praised by the reviewer of ''The Independent'', who called it "powerful" and said that the novel's denouement was "delicate, unflinching and deeply moving." Robert O'Connor (actor)
Robert O'Connor, also known professionally as Robert Emmett O'Connor and Robert E. O'Connor (March 18, 1885 – September 4, 1962) was an Irish-American actor. He had a lengthy career as a stage actor on Broadway and in vaudeville from 1905-1931; using the stage name Robert O'Connor in both musicals and plays. After transitioning to film, he also used the names Robert Emmett O'Connor or Robert E. O'Connor for his screen credits. He appeared in more than 200 films between 1919 and 1950; specializing in portraying policemen. He is probably best remembered as the warmhearted bootlegger Paddy Ryan in ''The Public Enemy'' (1931) and as Detective Sergeant Henderson pursuing the Marx Brothers in '' A Night at the Opera'' (1935). He also appeared as Jonesy (the older Paramount gate guard) in Billy Wilder's 1950 film ''Sunset Boulevard''. ''Hollyoaks'' is a long-running Channel 4 soap opera in the United Kingdom. This is a list of characters who first appeared on the programme during 2010, listed in order of their first appearance. In January 2010, it was announced that Paul Marquess would be taking over the role of series producer from Lucy Allan, who had been with the show for one year. Marquess fully took control on 17 January 2010, onwards. March saw the introduction of Jem Costello, a new love interest for Gilly Roach.
