Robert McClelland (American Politician)
Robert McClelland (August 1, 1807 – August 30, 1880) was a US statesman, serving as U.S. Representative from Michigan, the ninth governor of Michigan, and United States Secretary of the Interior. Early life in Pennsylvania He was born in Greencastle, Pennsylvania, the son of a prominent Franklin County doctor. He entered Dickinson College at Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and graduated among the top of his class in 1829. He studied law and was admitted to the Pennsylvania bar in 1831 and practiced law in Pittsburgh for a short time before moving in 1833 to Monroe in what was then the Territory of Michigan. Life and politics in Michigan McClelland became a member of the Michigan bar and established a successful law practice in Monroe, and he was a member of the constitutional convention in 1835. Robert Bruce McClelland (born 26 January 1958) is an Australian judge and former politician who has served on the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia since 2015, including as Deputy Chief Justice of that court since 2018. He was previously Attorney-General of Australia from 2007 to 2011, and a member of the House of Representatives from 1996 to 2013, representing the Labor Party. Early life and education McClelland is the son of Doug McClelland, a former Senator for New South Wales between 1962 and 1987, and a minister in the Whitlam government and President of the Senate, serving between 1983 and 1987. His grandfather was Alfred McClelland, a state Labor MP from 1920 to 1932. McClelland was educated at Blakehurst High School before studying at the University of New South Wales, where he gained bachelor's degrees in arts and law, and the University of Sydney where he gained a master's degree in law. Robert Howard "Bob" McClelland (born November 2, 1933) is a former broadcaster, journalist and political figure in British Columbia. He represented Langley in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1972 to 1986 as a Social Credit member. Early life and career He was born and educated in Calgary, Alberta. McClelland moved to British Columbia as a driver for a furniture moving company. He served as alderman for Langley from 1969 to 1972. McClelland also worked as a broadcaster for radio station CHQM, as publisher of the ''Fraser Valley News Herald'' and as publisher of a monthly country and western music newspaper.
