Robert Fern Lyons
Robert Fern Lyons (July 1, 1856 – December 29, 1926) was a politician in the Canadian province of Manitoba. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba from 1892 to 1895, and again from 1899 to 1914. Lyons was a member of the Conservative Party of Manitoba. He was born at New Boyne, Canada West (now Ontario), and educated in Athens, Ontario. He later relocated to Manitoba, and worked as a farmer. Lyons was a Methodist, and an active Master freemason. He was first elected to the Manitoba legislature in the 1892 provincial election, defeating Liberal candidate S.J. Thompson by 82 votes in the Norfolk constituency. The Liberals won this election, and Lyons served as an opposition member. He lost his constituency seat to Liberal George Rogers by 170 votes in the 1896 election. ''To Catch a Predator'' is an American reality television series in the television news magazine program ''Dateline NBC'' featuring confrontations with host Chris Hansen, partly filmed with a hidden camera, of adult men arriving at a sting house to have sex with a minor and typically being arrested as a result. The minors are adults impersonating underage persons (generally ages 13–15) in online chats. The series premiered in November 2004. It followed twelve undercover sting operations as they were conducted across the United States with the watchdog group Perverted-Justice. Robert Llewellyn Lyons (born January 19, 1948) is a pilot and former political figure in Saskatchewan. He represented Regina Rosemont from 1986 to 1995 in the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan as a New Democratic Party (NDP) member. Robert Spencer Dyer Lyons MP (13 August 1826 – 19 December 1886) was an Irish physician. Life Lyons, born at Cork in 1826, was the son of Sir William Lyons (1794–1858), a merchant there, who was mayor in 1848 and 1849, and was knighted by the queen on her visit to Cork on 3 August 1849. His mother was Harriet, daughter of Robert Spencer Dyer of Kinsale. Robert was educated at Hamblin and Porter's Grammar School, Cork, and at Trinity College, Dublin, where he graduated in 1848 as a bachelor in medicine. He became a licentiate of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in the following year, and in 1855 was appointed chief pathological commissioner to the British Army in the Crimea, where he reported on the disease then prevalent in the trenches before Sevastopol. Robert Lyons (born July 6, 1959) is an American writer, playwright and director, best known as the artistic director the two-time OBIE Award-winning New Ohio Theatre in Manhattan. Early years Robert Lyons was born in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up in the suburbs of the city. His father worked as a white-collar employee for Chrysler and his mother as a secretary in the public school system. He graduated from Michigan State University with a BA in English and then worked as a poet and short story writer. Lyons first became interested in theater after graduating from college. According to Lyons, "I was bumming around the East coast, and I saw a theatre company do an opening act for Luther "Guitar Junior" Johnson in a dive bar in Gloucester, Massachusetts. Robbie James Lyons (July 10, 1972 – December 5, 2003) was convicted of the 1993 murder of Stephen Wilson Stafford and in 2003 was executed at Central Prison in Raleigh, North Carolina. Prior arrests A series of arrests and releases in 1993 preceded the murder for which Lyons was later executed. Convicted on 16 April 1993 on multiple charges of larceny and forgery, Lyons was sentenced to 17 months in prison; however, he served only a month of this sentence and was released on 17 May 1993. He was arrested again a month later on charges of armed robbery, for which he received three years probation on a plea bargain; he used an alias, and even though his real name was known, his prior arrest and improper release were overlooked.
