Robert Griffiths (politician)
Robert Griffiths (born 21 April 1952) is a Welsh communist activist and the current General Secretary of the Communist Party of Britain. He was elected by the party's Executive Committee in January 1998, in place of Mike Hicks (trade unionist), Mike Hicks. Early life Griffiths was born in Cardiff and grew up in the suburb of Llanrumney, where he attended Bryn Hafod primary school. Afterwards he attended Cardiff High School, and later went to the University of Bath to study economics. While at university he competed in boxing tournaments. Career He joined Plaid Cymru in 1973, after being impressed by Emrys Roberts (Plaid Cymru politician), Emrys Roberts' campaign in the 1972 Merthyr Tydfil by-election, Merthyr Tydfil by-election. The following year in 1974, he began to work for Plaid Cymru as a parliamentary research officer. Robert B. Griffiths (February 25, 1937) is an American physicist at Carnegie Mellon University. He is the originator of the consistent histories approach to quantum mechanics, which has since been developed by himself, Roland Omnès, Murray Gell-Mann, and James Hartle. Early life and education Robert B. Griffiths was born in Etah, Uttar Pradesh in 1937 to Presbyterian missionaries. Griffiths attended Woodstock School, India from fourth standard to tenth, along with his brothers and sisters. Even during his Woodstock days, Griffiths' mathematical and scientific aptitude was apparent. The 1952 year book remarks that ''"Robert is famous for his long arguments (and unsurpassed knowledge) in chemistry class, his ability to 'recite' the log tables indelibly written in his brain, and his skill when it comes to fixing anything electrical."'' Robert William Griffiths (May 28, 1896 – January 29, 1962) was a British farmer and businessman whose principal interests lay in dairy farm production in Wales. The Griffiths philosophy was to explore all markets, pinpoint the best and gear production to exploit it. He was appointed High Sheriff of Montgomeryshire in 1953. Family The son of Montgomeryshire Councillor Robert Griffiths of Cynhinfa and his wife, Mary Anne Tudor; the eldest of four children. He was descended in an unbroken male line from Brochwel Ysgithrog through the Kingdom of Powys, Princes of Powys, Elisedd ap Cyngen and Ieuan, the older brother of Sir Gruffudd Vychan. Bob Griffiths (Henry Robert Griffiths) (born April 16, 1938) is an author, playwright, and professional speaker. Born in Brooklyn, New York, Griffiths majored in Organ at New York College of Music before switching to New York University, where he received a B.S. in Finance. Griffiths' first play was professionally produced in 1992. Three years later, he was commissioned to write and direct three plays about leading writers of the 1930s by Bucks County Center for the Performing Arts.
