Robert Finch (rugby League)
Robert Finch (born 8 July 1956) is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played in the 1970s and 1980s.Alan Whiticker/Glen Hudson: Encyclopedia of Rugby League Players. 1995. Playing career A dual premiership winner with the St George Dragons, Finch played seven seasons with the Dragons between 1974 and 1980, including the 1977 and 1979 premiership victories. He started out as an Australian schoolboy representative on the 1972-73 tour of England and was from Maitland, New South Wales. He also won the Under-23 Grand Final with St George Dragons in his debut season. He played most of his first grade career under the astute coaching of Harry Bath. After his NSWRFL grade career was over, he moved to Newcastle in 1981 and represented Country Firsts that year. Maitland () is a city in the Lower Hunter Valley of New South Wales, Australia and the seat of Maitland City Council, situated on the Hunter River approximately by road north of Sydney and north-west of Newcastle. The Canberra Raiders are an Australian professional rugby league football club based in the national capital city of Canberra, Australian Capital Territory. They have competed in Australasia's elite rugby league competition, the National Rugby League (NRL) premiership since 1982. Brett Finch
Brett John Finch (born 20 August 1981) is an Australian former professional rugby league footballer who played in the 2000s and 2010s. A New South Wales State of Origin representative half back, he played in the National Rugby League for Australian clubs the Canberra Raiders, Sydney Roosters, Parramatta Eels and Melbourne Storm. Finch also played in the Super League for English club the Wigan Warriors (with whom he won the 2011 Challenge Cup Final). Background Born in Maitland, New South Wales, Australia, the son of former player Robert Finch. Finch was educated at Erindale College, where he represented 1998 Australian Schoolboys. Newcastle Knights
The Newcastle Knights are an Australian professional rugby league club based in Newcastle, New South Wales. They compete in Australasia's premier rugby league competition, the National Rugby League (NRL) premiership. Playing in red and blue, the Knights joined the top tier competition in 1988, 79 years after the previous Newcastle based team, the Newcastle Rebels had departed the Sydney competition with the formation of a separate league competition based in the Newcastle region.
