Robert D. Sundby
Robert D. Sundby (October 21, 1925December 12, 1997) was an American lawyer and jurist. He was a judge of the Wisconsin Court of Appeals in the Madison-based District IV for ten years (1986–1996). Early life and education Born in the rural town of Dunkirk, Wisconsin, just south of Stoughton, Sundby was raised on a small farm and graduated from Stoughton High School in 1943. He enrolled in the United States Navy's V-12 Navy College Training Program, designed to supplement the Navy's commissioned officer corps. Through the V-12 program, Sundby was educated at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign College of Engineering and the University of Texas. He graduated from the program October 30, 1945, received his commission as an ensign, and was sent to Naval Amphibious Base Coronado for amphibious warfare training. Wisconsin Court Of Appeals
The Wisconsin Court of Appeals is an intermediate appellate court that reviews contested decisions of the Wisconsin circuit courts. The Court of Appeals was created in August 1978 to alleviate the Wisconsin Supreme Court's rising number of appellate cases. Published Court of Appeals opinions are considered binding precedent until overruled by the Supreme Court; unpublished opinions are not. The Court hears most appeals in three-judge panels, but appeals of circuit court decisions in misdemeanor, small claims, and municipal ordinance cases are decided by a single judge. Composition The Court of Appeals comprises 16 judges elected to six-year terms in four geographic districts. Janesville is a city in Rock County, Wisconsin, United States. It is the county seat and largest city in the county. Evansville is a city in Rock County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 5,703 at the 2020 census. History Evansville was first settled in the 1830s by New Englanders who were attracted to the area by its pristine wooded landscape and the placid Allen Creek. By 1855, the city recorded its first plat and was complete with homes, shops, and churches. Evansville is named for Dr. John M. Evans, a doctor and postmaster during the city's early years. In 1863, the Chicago and North Western Railway came to Evansville, accelerating growth. Monona is a city in Dane County, Wisconsin, United States. A suburb of the state capital, Madison, the city lies on the southeastern shore of Lake Monona, from which the city gets its name. The population was 8,624 at the 2020 census. History Originally part of the Town of Blooming Grove, Monona was incorporated as a village on August 29, 1938.
