Robert Campbell (Prince Edward Island Politician)
Robert Erskine "Bob" Campbell (April 27, 1922 – May 31, 1992) was a farmer, used automobile salesperson and political figure on Prince Edward Island. He represented 1st Prince in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1962 to 1992 as a Liberal. He was born in Alberton, Prince Edward Island, the son of Keir Fraser Campbell and Eliza Mae Haywood. He served overseas in the merchant navy from 1941 to 1942. In 1943, he married Georgie Ona Lewis. Campbell farmed and raised cattle and hogs. He served in the province's Executive Council as a minister without portfolio from 1966 to 1972 and as Minister of Fisheries from 1972 to 1974 and from 1978 to 1979. Campbell died in office in Charlottetown at the age of 70. Prince Edward Island
Prince Edward Island (PEI; ) is one of the thirteen Provinces and territories of Canada, provinces and territories of Canada. 1st Prince was an electoral district in the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island, which elected two members to the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island from 1873 to 1993. The Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island (french: Assemblée législative de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard) is the sole chamber of the General Assembly of Prince Edward Island. The Prince Edward Island Liberal Party (officially the ''Prince Edward Island Liberal Association'') is a political party in the province of Prince Edward Island, Canada. The PEI Liberals are affiliated with the federal Liberal Party of Canada. History The party was created when PEI was a British colony by reformers who agitated for the system of responsible government. This was granted by the British crown to the colony in 1851. George Coles was its dominant figure in its first decades. Alberton is a Canadian town located in Prince County, Prince Edward Island. It is situated in the western part of the county in the township of Lot 5. Alberton is a service centre for local fishing and farming communities, and is adjacent to the community and harbour of Northport. History The area was long settled by the Mi'kmaq Nation. Charlottetown
Charlottetown is the capital and largest city of the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island, and the county seat of Queens County. Named after Queen Charlotte, Charlottetown was an unincorporated town until it was incorporated as a city in 1855. It was the site of the famous Charlottetown Conference in 1864, the first gathering of Canadian and Maritime statesmen to discuss the proposed Maritime Union. Hector Lawrence MacLeod (born June 30, 1944) is a carpenter, contractor and former political figure in Prince Edward Island. He represented 1st Prince as ''Councillor'' (1993–1996) and then Alberton-Miminegash as ''MLA'' (1996–2000) in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island as a Liberal. He was born in Ingonish, Nova Scotia, the son of Walter MacLeod and Julia Hardy, and was educated there. MacLeod has worked as a heavy equipment operator, as a realtor, has spent time farming and was also a fisher from 1980 to 1990. He was a member of the town council for Alberton, Prince Edward Island and served as mayor from 1979 to 1989 and from 1991 to 1993.
