Robert Allison (fl. 1679–1699) was a buccaneer, privateer, and pirate best known for assaulting Spanish Portobelo, Colón, Puerto Bello as part of a large flotilla of rovers. History Allison sailed his unarmed 25-man, 18-toon sloop to Port Morant, Port Morant, Jamaica in late 1679 to meet with fellow captains John Coxon (pirate), John Coxon, Bartholomew Sharp, Bartholomew Sharpe, Thomas Magott, and Cornelius Essex. The Franco-Dutch War had ended the previous year; Coxon had a commission only to cut logwood but forged it to appear as a privateering commission against the Spanish. Bob Allison
William Robert Allison (July 11, 1934 – April 9, 1995) was an American professional baseball outfielder who played for the Washington Senators / Minnesota Twins of Major League Baseball from to . Allison attended the University of Kansas for two years and was a star outfielder on the baseball team and fullback on the football team. In his Major League career, he hit 30 or more home runs three times and 20 or more in eight different seasons. Although he struck out often like many sluggers, reaching the century mark in strikeouts in five seasons, he received more than his share of walks and despite a mediocre career .255 batting average, Allison finished with a lifetime on-base percentage (OBP) of .358 and he finished in the top 10 in OBP in four seasons. Robert Arthur Allison (born December 3, 1937) is a former American professional stock car racing driver and owner. Allison was the founder of the Alabama Gang, a group of drivers based in Hueytown, Alabama, where there were abundant short tracks with high purses. Allison raced competitively in the NASCAR Cup Series from 1961 to 1988, while regularly competing in short track events throughout his career. He also raced in IndyCar, Trans-Am, and Can-Am. Named one of NASCAR's 50 greatest drivers and a member of the NASCAR Hall of Fame, he was the 1983 Winston Cup champion and won the Daytona 500 in 1978, 1982, and 1988 His brother Donnie Allison was also a prominent driver, as were his two late sons, Clifford and Davey Allison. Robert Allison (March 10, 1777 – December 2, 1840) was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. Robert Allison born near Greencastle, Pennsylvania. He attended local and private schools, and moved to Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, in 1795. He was employed as a clerk in his brother's office, studied law, was admitted to the bar in April 1798 and commenced the practice of law in Huntingdon. He served as a captain in the Huntingdon Volunteers during the War of 1812. At the close of the war returned to Huntingdon and resumed the practice of law. He served as a burgess of Huntingdon in 1815, 1817, 1819, 1821–1824, and again in 1826. He was an unsuccessful candidate for election in 1824 to the Nineteenth Congress, in 1826 to the Twentieth Congress, and in 1828 to the Twenty-first Congress. Robert Allison was a member of the South Dakota House of Representatives. Biography Allison was born on March 14, 1846, near Summit Center, Wisconsin, now in the village of Summit, in Waukesha County, Wisconsin. Allison was a sailor on the Great Lakes and later moved to Dakota Territory to help his brothers build houses. Allison was in farming and stock raising. Robert A. Clay Allison (September 2, 1841 – July 1, 1887) was a cattle rancher, cattle broker, and sometimes gunfighter of the American Old West. He fought for the Confederacy in the Civil War. Allison had a reputation for violence, having survived several one-on-one knife and gunfights (some with lawmen), as well as being implicated in a number of vigilante jail break-ins and lynchings. Robert John Allison DL (born 4 February 1961) is a British academic. Professor Allison has held senior leadership roles in a number of top UK universities. Currently a Non-Executive Director and Trustee of several organisations, Bob was previously the Vice-Chancellor and President of Loughborough University. Bob was brought up in North Yorkshire and educated at Northallerton Grammar School, before studying at Hull University and gaining a B.A. in 1982. He was awarded a Ph.D. from King’s College London in 1986 and subsequently appointed as the Addison Wheeler Fellow at Durham University, moving to a lectureship at University College London in 1989.
