Robbie Zipp
Robert Zipp is a retired U.S. soccer player who currently serves as a youth soccer referee. Zipp attended O'Dea High School in Seattle, Washington where he was a four year varsity letterman on the boys' soccer team. He was also a two year letterman on the football team. Additionally, Parade Magazine selected Zipp as a high school All-American soccer player in 1980 and 1981. After graduating from high school, he was drafted in the first round of the North American Soccer League (NASL) draft. Records don’t show which team drafted him. However in 1981, Zipp was a member of Washington Diplomats. Zipp then played the 1981-1982 NASL indoor season with the Seattle Sounders (1974–1983), Seattle Sounders; however, he never appeared in an outdoor game with the Sounders. Jeff Durgan
Jeffrey "Jeff" Durgan (born August 29, 1961, in Tacoma, Washington) is a retired U.S. soccer defender who played professionally for the New York Cosmos and seven times for the U.S. national team. NASL Durgan was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington, where he attended Stadium High School. After graduating, Durgan turned professional with the New York Cosmos of the North American Soccer League (NASL), debuting in April 1980. In his first year in the league he started 28 of the Cosmos' 32 regular games. Showing what sportswriter George Vecsey called "a controlled aggressiveness characteristic of a player far beyond his years", he was named the league's Rookie of the Year, beating Tacoma youth teammate Mark Peterson of the Seattle Sounders. Seattle Sounders Football Club is an American professional men's soccer club based in Seattle. The Sounders compete as a member of the Western Conference of Major League Soccer (MLS). The club was established on November 13, 2007, and began play in 2009 as an MLS expansion team. The Sounders are a phoenix club, carrying the same name as the original Sounders franchise that competed in the North American Soccer League (NASL) from 1974 to 1983. The club's majority owner is Adrian Hanauer, and its minority owners are the estate of Paul Allen, Drew Carey, and 14 families from the Seattle area. Washington Diplomats (NASL) Players
The Washington Diplomats are an American soccer club representing Washington, D.C. Throughout their playing existence, the club played their home games at Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium and indoor home matches at the neighboring D.C. Armory. Founded as an expansion franchise in 1974, the Diplomats competed in the now-defunct North American Soccer League, then the top-tier soccer league of the American soccer pyramid. Plagued with mediocrity in their first few seasons of existence, the Diplomats did not qualify for the playoffs until 1976, their third year in the league.
