Road Wild 1999
Road Wild (1999) was the fourth and final Road Wild professional wrestling pay-per-view (PPV) event produced by World Championship Wrestling (WCW). It took place on August 14, 1999, from the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in Sturgis, South Dakota. In the main event, Hulk Hogan defeated Kevin Nash in a retirement match to retain the WCW World Heavyweight Championship, forcing Nash to retire from professional wrestling. Nash would come out of retirement in late 1999. This was Hogan's fourth straight Road Wild main event match. Other important matches on the card featured Randy Savage defeating Dennis Rodman, Goldberg defeating Rick Steiner, Sid Vicious defeating Sting and Chris Benoit retained the WCW United States Heavyweight Championship against Diamond Dallas Page in a No Disqualification match. Bill Goldberg
William Scott Goldberg (born December 27, 1966), often known mononymously as Goldberg, is an American semi-retired professional wrestler and former professional football player. He is best known for his tenures in WCW and WWE. Dennis Keith Rodman (born May 13, 1961) is an American former professional basketball player. Known for his fierce defensive and rebounding abilities, his biography on the official NBA website states that he is "arguably the best rebounding forward in NBA history". Face (professional Wrestling)
In professional wrestling, a face (babyface) is a heroic, "good guy" or "fan favorite" wrestler, booked (scripted) by the promotion with the aim of being cheered by fans, and acts as a protagonist to the heels, who are the villainous antagonist or "bad guy" characters. Traditionally, they wrestle within the rules and avoid cheating (in contrast to the villains who use illegal moves and call in additional wrestlers to do their work for them) while behaving positively towards the referee and the audience. Such characters are also referred to as blue-eyes in British wrestling and ''técnicos'' in ''lucha libre''. Heel (professional Wrestling)
In professional wrestling, a heel (also known as a ''rudo'' in '' lucha libre'') is a wrestler who portrays a villain, "bad guy", or "rulebreaker", and acts as an antagonist to the faces, who are the heroic protagonist or "good guy" characters. Not everything a heel wrestler does must be villainous: heels need only to be booed or jeered by the audience to be effective characters, although most truly successful heels embrace other aspects of their devious personalities, such as cheating to win or using foreign objects. "The role of a heel is to get 'heat,' which means spurring the crowd to obstreperous hatred, and generally involves cheating and pretty much any other manner of socially unacceptable behavior that will get the job done." The West Texas Rednecks
The West Texas Rednecks were a short-lived professional wrestling stable and country music band in World Championship Wrestling (WCW) in 1999 and All Japan Pro Wrestling (AJPW) in the early 2000s. They are famous for the recording of two songs, "Rap is Crap (I Hate Rap)" and "Good Ol' Boys". History The West Texas Rednecks formed in June 1999 in WCW. The Revolution (WCW)
The Revolution was a professional wrestling villainous stable in World Championship Wrestling (WCW). History The Revolution was formed by Chris Benoit and Dean Malenko (leftovers from the last incarnation of the Four Horsemen), Perry Saturn (leftover from The Flock) and Shane Douglas on the July 29, 1999 edition of ''WCW Thunder''. When the group first came together as fan favorites, it was with the idea that they were a group of younger wrestlers who had felt slighted by WCW management, never giving them the chance to be stars, while always giving older, more established wrestlers the top spots. Raven's Nest
Raven's Flock was a professional wrestling stable led by Raven that was present in Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) between 1995 and 1997. The Filthy Animals were a professional wrestling faction in World Championship Wrestling from 1999 until 2001. Concept The plan for the stable was to be WCW's version of the World Wrestling Federation's D-Generation X.Guerrero, Eddie. ''Cheating Death, Stealing Life: The Eddie Guerrero Story'', p. 190.
